4. Power Crisis
 Definition: Power Crisis is the shortage of electric power or power loss in a given area or section of a power grid.
Crisis of power is one of the major problems in Bangladesh. Day by day the gap between demand and production is
Increasing. Until now 25 July Bangladesh has generated 12,057MW electricity which were new record in Power generation.
But Power crisis is not good for our Power sector as the fastest growing country in South-Asia.
 Causes for Power Crisis:
 Misuse, system loss and corruption in Power sector.
 Increasing demand
 Poor Plant Load Factor(PLF)
 Gaps between targets and achievement
 Use of obsolete machinery
 Labuor indiscipline and lack of proper administrative

5.  Key challenges faced by the Power Sector:
 Power financial health of power generating companies
 Natural Gas shortage
 Power plant inefficiency and low PLF
 Improper demand-supply analysis
 Limited renewable energy potential
 Lack of expertise
 Key Problems in Power Sector:
 Load shedding
 Voltage variation
 Operating inefficiently
 System loss
 Unadjusted tariff structures
 Ineffective billing process

6.  Solution:
 Priority should be given to control misuse and corruption in power sector .
 Careful observation of Power generation.
 Proper utilization of renewable energy is most effective due to it’s low cost and risk
 Develop manpower skill
 By incorporating IIP and local government, central GOV may take the responsibility to increase the power generation
 Ensure of proper use of Power in Bangladesh
