Desktop Publishing Reflection
In the desktop publishing assignment we were to create a wiki page and a weebly website
with materials that are useful to our unit. Since I chose to teach my unit on the poetry of Robert
Frost, there are source materials in my wiki and weebly that are specifically about the poet and
his works. I included links to a website detailing the biography of Robert Frost and to a handout
of several poetic devices and their definitions. Next in the assignment we were to upload a table.
My table details my idea for lessons for an entire week in this unit. I then found three videos of
Robert Frost reciting his own poetry and included them on the video page. The calendar page
consists of a Google Calendar outlining the month of February. I then included a picture of
Robert Frost on the picture page for a mental image of the author when talking about him. The
Google Maps page contains a map of San Francisco, the birthplace of Robert Frost. On the
document page of my wiki and in my weebly I included a handout I made defining several
poetry terms and then shared on slideshare.com. The last page of my wiki consists of a lesson I
made using blendspace.com that has several different resources regarding Robert Frost and
poetry in general.
This assignment has made me feel more comfortable in designing online activities for my
future students and comfortable in navigating a computer in general. It was an assignment that
includes a number of resources I can use to teach a unit on poetry and Robert Frost.
