It is a camera calculator that allows students to snap a
picture of a math problem and it shows the steps. I
plan to use this as a remediation tool.
Advantage: This free app will complete step-by-step
instructions using colorful explanations and
handwriting recognition.
Disadvantage: This app makes it easier for students to
cheat on an assignment.
3. ITOOCH
A large collection of comprehensive educational
activities based on the US National Common Core
Standards. It covers Math and Language Arts for 6th –
8th grade. I plan to use this app to help parents and
students identify and address learning needs in a fun
and motivating way.
Advantage: Speech synthesis option to help users in
reading and text comprehension. There is a
blackboard and a calculator embed into the app so
students can write directly on the screen without
having to leave the app.
Disadvantage: Students may use the screen to draw
instead of working out the math problem.
4. MALMATH
A math problem solver with step by step
description and graph view. I plan to use
this app to help students to understand the
solving process and others who have
problems on their homework.
Advantage: Generates math problems with
several categories and difficulty levels.
Disadvantage: Don’t have an undo or redo
button
5. BUZZMATH

It is a study and test-prep app that lets you
create and share digital flash cards and
study them yourself or share with others via
email or link. I plan to use this app to help
review academic vocabulary.
Advantage: Instant feedback
Disadvantage: Too causal email text
between student/teacher
7. CLASS
DOJO
A communication app for students, parents,
and teachers. This app helps build a positive
classroom atmosphere. I plan to use this app
to help with classroom management.
Advantages: It works on all devices. Helps
with parent connection.
Disadvantage: Teacher misuse of app to only
show student’s negative behavior
8. REMIND 101
It allows teachers to send secure, free
message reminders to students and parents.
I plan to use this app to increase student
participation of homework.
Advantages: Documentation of parental
contact. Unlimited text messages that can
be sent. Message can be sent to multiple
classes at the same time.
Disadvantage: The app requires that you
have iOS 4.3 or later.
9. KAHOOT
This app is a game-based way to introduce a
concept. I plan to use this app during our
growth days as a formative assessment.
Advantages: Increase engagement. Works on
any device. Saves on grading.
Disadvantage: Pressing the back button
exits the game causing the app to restart.
10. OPERATION

PRO
The app combines tracking
schedule, homework and grades with a
delightful user experience. It's a school-
specific calendar app and to-do list
beautifully rolled into one. I plan to use this
app to help students that have a hard time
staying organizing.
Advantage: Syncs wirelessly across devices
where the software is installed
Disadvantage: It is not free! But the iStudiez
Lite is free.
