2. Why I want to study this major.
Ever since I was a boy I was interested in the affairs of men and how
humans think. This then developed into a fascination with society as I
grew older, and when I finished my internship I decided that Social
Science was the major for me.
Admittedly, my interest in the major was influenced by my time in
Beijing, as I was curious in how a government could govern a
population that is over 21 million people.
3. Why I want to study in Dublin
Well, I was born in Dublin, was raised here for nine years until I moved to
bustling Beijing, so in a way, studying in Beijing feels like a homecoming, and
studying in UCD, a college in the top 1% of the world is exciting.
I am always surprised by the influence the Irish have on the world, Ireland
maybe a small county, essentially an island and yet, it has produced many
writers. It is safe to say that the number of these brilliant people that
Ireland produces is extremely disproportionate, but in a good way.
4. What I Will Study.
Social Science is quite a vast major as it covers many fields of study, all in all it is
basically learning how the world works, as in politics, economics etc.
Below is the full range of courses provided: Sociology, Social Policy, Archaeology
Economics, Geography, Information and Social Computing, Politics, Philosophy
and some Psychology modules.
The above-mentioned courses are only the first year. As a result we can see
there are many modules in Social Science.
5. Second and Third Year
Unlike the first year, the second and third year is apparently more focused
on following a single path, this will presumably dictate what modules will be
studied. Below are the study paths.

10. Epilogue
As we can see Social Science is an extremely interesting and intensive
course, as it deals in many aspects of the social side of the world,
essentially learning how the world works.
Since the courses is in Ireland, a country that has constantly adapted to the
new and ever-changing world and being a leader in human rights and
freedom, what better way than to have it teach this unique course.
