Personal Statement
I am a structural engineer with 5 years of experience in offshore structural engineering and marine operations. In my
professionalcareer I have developed strong organisational, analytical and quantitative skills complemented by a passion
for IT and programming. My experience to date has given me an invaluable insight into the whole lifecycle of energy
installations from front end engineering design to repair, modification and certification.
Offshore Structural Engineer, Atkins (June 2014 - present)
I am currently leading the Epsom office structural design of fixed steel marine structures for energy projects. I am also
actively involved in the standardisation and optimisation of the full technical delivery process,in particular developing
a best practice guidance for the implementation of design activities. My main duties are:
Project planning, change management and implementation
Team leadership and management of junior staff
Reporting and providing support to engineering and project management in meetings with clients and other
stakeholders involved in design and construction
Interpretation of large data sets for identification of design drivers
Developing sensitivity analysis on large scale multi-parametric models
Development of standard analysis tools (Excel + VBA / Python / Mathcad) and QA checklists
Ensuring design documentation is provided within deadlines, adhering to internal QA procedures and meeting
client and independent verification bodies requirements
In this position I’ve been able to develop processes that allowfor more efficient modelling and resulted in a 50% reduction
in the time used for the analysis. This proved to be crucial for the DONG Hornsea project where 3 offshore substations
had to be delivered in parallel.
Offshore Engineer, D’Appolonia/RINA (February 2012 – May 2014)
For more than two years I have been employed in the marine certification and verification industry where I managed and
carried out certification of new and existing assets including marine warranty surveys for energy clients from small
operators to global oil majors. My main responsibilities were:
Certification activities including management of related tasks and invoicing
Provide technical advice and due diligence services to energy clients
Ensuring marine operations were carried out in compliance with recognised safety standards
Provide real time feedback to on site operation management on engineering queries
In this position I was required to work on multiple projects simultaneously and this required time management,
multitasking skills and the ability to correctly prioritise workload. The MWS activities often required the provision of
live feedback and helped develop resilience when working under pressure.
