The document analyzes the titling techniques of four British social realism films - Kidulthood, Shank, Bullet Boy, and Offender. It finds that across the films, the title sequences used quick durations, fast speeds, and minimalist fonts and colors to set dark, tense, and gritty moods reflecting the genres' focus on urban crime stories. The relationships between the titles and codes of social realism, like non-professional actors, run-down locations, and depictions of violence, helped establish expectations for the films' plots.
