ANA CABIDO

Birth date: 01/04/1971
Nationality: Portuguese
Education: Civil Engineering
I am a structural engineer who studied in Lisbon, Paris and Leuven, and specialized in conservation of historic towns and
buildings. I have worked as a design engineer as well a contractor, and been in charge of construction sites for projects as
complex and varied as office buildings, hotels and homes, but also as challenging as the conservation and reconditioning
of two of Lisbon’s historic districts, palaces and monuments. Over the last six years I have been responsible for developing
projects in Lisbon and implementing them in Angola, having to adjust to a different and challenging human and logistic
reality.
My experience goes from dealing directly with local construction workers, negotiating budget cuts and deadlines with
contractors, developing technical solutions with engineers, optimizing chaotic logistics and human and material resource
shortfalls in the most effective possible way, as well as reporting to top management. Most importantly I am used to
coordinating multiple and complex tasks from geo-spread multidisciplinary teams, to ensure that every collective goal is
achieved. My disposition and availability to travel to wherever necessary is total.
From the very beginning it has been clear to me that ideas are my inspiration but the actions that make them possible are
my motivation. I believe in the power of dedicated work in service of a project and in the commitment to its values. In
giving all you’ve got and making a difference with every day’s work. In team work, side by side with personal
responsibility. I believe there are no unsolvable problems or unbeatable difficulties, when our goal is clear and our resolve
is strong. That big achievements are made of small steps. And that’s where my motivation stems from.
