Interview #1 (Hannah)
1.) I have seven social media accounts. These include “Twitter, Facebook, Instagram,
Snapchat, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and Group Me”.
2.) “I most often times use Snapchat and Instagram”.
3.) Social media gives me the ability to connect with other people as well as meet others. I
love to use to social media in order to connect with my friends and family that I do not
see often. My family lives in country away from me so social media plays a big role in
my life allowing me to talk to them as well as see them on pictures on Instagram or quick
photos on Snapchat.
4.) “I think social media time management is VERY important. Because I cannot get
anything done if I have my phone near me, putting social media and devices away for a
few hours allows me to focus on other things such as the sport I play (tennis), studying,
reading, or just socializing. Knowing how to manage my social media time helps me get
things done in general”.
5.) “I’m able to meet a person and then follow them on various social media accounts. That
way I can expand my connection with that person. This will give me the ability to learn
about them on a personal level”.
Interview #2 (Jack)
1.) “I have four social media accounts. Instagram, twitter, Snapchat, and LinkedIn”.
2.) I use Snapchat and Instagram most often. This is the easiest way to keep up with pop
culture and connect with friends.
3.) “It plays a descent role in my life because It gives me the ability to connect with
employers, through LinkedIn, as well as make new friends.
4.) “Time management with social media is very important to me”. Having a specific time
frame to use these devices will help you be successful. Since I’m a college student, I try
to reframe from using social media until all my school work is done”.
5.) “Social media has given me the ability to meet tons of new friends. Coming to college, It
was hard for me to meet new people. Using social gave me the ability to find common
interests with myself and others. I also used Facebook to find my roommate. My
roommate is from Raleigh and I wouldn’t know he was without social media. He is now
one of my best friends. “
Question #1
One Typology that was most represented from the interviews was “passing time”. Both
interviewee’s use social media in order to keep them occupied. They both agreed that they scroll
through social media when finished with school work, working, and athletics. Each of them
spend an hour on it in the afternoon and two to three hours in the evening. These individuals use
social media the most on the weekends. This is when they have the most time.

  • 1. Questions 1. How many social media accounts do you have? 2. What two social media apps do you find yourself using most often? 3. What role do you think media/social media play in your life? 4. How important do you think social media time management is? 5.) In what ways can social media expand your social life? Interview #1 (Hannah) 1.) I have seven social media accounts. These include “Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and Group Me”. 2.) “I most often times use Snapchat and Instagram”. 3.) Social media gives me the ability to connect with other people as well as meet others. I love to use to social media in order to connect with my friends and family that I do not see often. My family lives in country away from me so social media plays a big role in my life allowing me to talk to them as well as see them on pictures on Instagram or quick photos on Snapchat. 4.) “I think social media time management is VERY important. Because I cannot get anything done if I have my phone near me, putting social media and devices away for a few hours allows me to focus on other things such as the sport I play (tennis), studying, reading, or just socializing. Knowing how to manage my social media time helps me get things done in general”. 5.) “I’m able to meet a person and then follow them on various social media accounts. That way I can expand my connection with that person. This will give me the ability to learn about them on a personal level”. Interview #2 (Jack) 1.) “I have four social media accounts. Instagram, twitter, Snapchat, and LinkedIn”. 2.) I use Snapchat and Instagram most often. This is the easiest way to keep up with pop culture and connect with friends. 3.) “It plays a descent role in my life because It gives me the ability to connect with employers, through LinkedIn, as well as make new friends. 4.) “Time management with social media is very important to me”. Having a specific time frame to use these devices will help you be successful. Since I’m a college student, I try to reframe from using social media until all my school work is done”.
  • 2. 5.) “Social media has given me the ability to meet tons of new friends. Coming to college, It was hard for me to meet new people. Using social gave me the ability to find common interests with myself and others. I also used Facebook to find my roommate. My roommate is from Raleigh and I wouldn’t know he was without social media. He is now one of my best friends. “ Question #1 One Typology that was most represented from the interviews was “passing time”. Both interviewee’s use social media in order to keep them occupied. They both agreed that they scroll through social media when finished with school work, working, and athletics. Each of them spend an hour on it in the afternoon and two to three hours in the evening. These individuals use social media the most on the weekends. This is when they have the most time.
