PARAPHIMOSIS
DEFINITION
Inability to place back (cover) the retracted prepucial skin over the glans is called as paraphimosis.
It causes ring like constriction proximal to the corona and prepuceal skin.

CAUSES
• after sexual intercourse
• iatrogenically after
urethral catheterisation.
4. CLINICALFEATURES
• As a result the glans will be
swollen
• Oedematous
• severe painand tenderness.
• Oftenglans will undergo
necrosis or becomes
gangrenous.
TREATMENT
• Manual reductionof
prepuceal skin is to be
tried.
• If not possible, initial dorsal
slit is made to relieve the
oedema and compression.
• Antibiotics and analgesics
• Circumcision is done after
3 weeks.
• Sedation and
hyaluronidase injection
in 10 ml saline into the
constriction ring
5. • multiple needle punctures
over the oedematous part,
reduces the oedema and
makes the paraphimosis to
get reduced. Later
circumcisionshould be
done.
