To whom it may concern,
Recommendation Letter for Amir Taubayev
As Associate Dean for Research and Executive Education – and a member of the faculty – at
the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, I had the pleasure of having Amir Taubayev as one
of my students during a three-week Singapore Module, an elective that he took as part of his
Master in Public Policy (MPP) programme at the Graduate School of Public Policy, Nazarbayev
University (NU). Amir has been one of the most conscientious, diligent and thoughtful
students of the MPP program at NU.
As part of the Singapore Module in August 2015, Amir attended a series of classroom sessions
by senior faculty members of the LKY School of the National University of Singapore, and
leaders in government and business. He also visited a number of leading public and private
sector organization. In these sessions, Amir participated actively and displayed a high level of
analytic and critical thinking skills. Amir was always able to analyse public issues discussed in
class from a sound economics perspective, and to ask intelligent questions. Reading his essays
that were part of the course work, it was also evident that Amir had put in a great deal of
effort and time in completing them.
Amir joined the MPP Program having had strong working experience in the financial sector of
Kazakhstan. He has always been interested in the practical implementation of concepts in
public policy and public management. He has strong critical thinking skills, but also
understands the need to keep in mind the peculiarities and complexities of real life conditions.
I believe that Amir would be an asset to your organization; he would bring in-depth analysis
and disciplined thinking to the issues you are grappling with. He is a bright, intellectually
curious individual, and has a maturity that enables him to cope admirably in difficult
situations. His natural leadership abilities are also apparent; for this reason, his peers often
look to him for advice.
Amir has my highest recommendations for any position in the public and private sectors.
