Letter of Recommendation for Ms. Alexis Trammell:
Ms. Alexis Trammell is a superior student and admirable young scholar in every way. I am the supervisor
of her work as an intern at World Literature Today, and I have advised her informally on several
occasions. I feel comfortable in attesting that she has been a remarkable student at The University of
Oklahoma. I am pleased to recommend this superior student who will graduate with Honors in spring
2015.
As a WLT intern, she researched broad topics and did a variety of tasks related to the publishing of a
magazine of international literature and culture. In everything she did for us, it has been evident that she is
an unusually clear thinker with good analytical ability. She knows how to break down a task, set specific
goals, and apply herself to be productive.
In addition to her excellent academic work, she shows great initiative in other areas. At OU Outreach, she
has done marketing and has written newsletters and press releases. She has worked for two public
relations organizations, Lindsey + Asp and Levy Mart Public Relations. With each organization, she took
on a wide range of writing, editing, and marketing tasks, and she was highly effective with everything she
attempted. At WLT, she did considerable research, copyediting, writing, and various projects in public
relations. All of these hands-on opportunities to work in the PR areas, especially her excellent experience
at WLT, have put her in a strong position to be very effective in her first job after graduation.
In other words, from what I have seen, Ms. Trammell is already a very successful and effective young
professional. She has been on various honor rolls, and reports from other students and professors about
her are very strong, too. The fact that she is smart, articulate, and focused is hugely in her favor as she
begins the last leg of her undergraduate work.
I also have spoken with her about cultural and political issues, and I have been impressed with her grasp
of facts and sophisticated analysis--and her ability to marshal an argument on so many subjects. When she
has assisted WLT to do research, I have constantly felt the good fortune to have such a smart and
articulate student working with us, as she is a professional in every sense. As such, she is a person who
must have truly unusual stores of energy, which would have to be the case for someone who accomplishes
as much as she does on a daily basis.
I know that Alexis wants to work in PR or some areas of professional communications. She will have one
more semester at OU before going on to professional life, and I know that she will do whatever it takes to
make her career successful and productive. She does not do anything half way and uses her formidable
talents to their utmost in everything she does.
Finally, what impresses me most about Alexis Trammell is her keen moral centering. Alexis has a degree
of maturity that comes with knowing who she is. She has a strong sense of her intellectual life and is very
much guided by her values in all of the educational choices she makes. In short, Alexis Trammell is a

remarkable young woman who is flexible and truly appreciates the opportunity to know and learn about
so many things. She is smart, focused, and resilient. She is also someone who finishes what she starts. I
can attest, too, that she is an extremely pleasant person to be around--honest and direct but also
considerate of other people. I strongly encourage you to consider her application very seriously.
