In the first shot we see the main titles which are a thin, elegant font in white, it is also written in capitals. It has a very professional and
smart feel which relates to the film because James bond is a agent who is very professional in his work and wears a suit to be smart
which fits with the genre, Action adventure Thriller.
We also notice that the opening sequence is set under water which symbolises unconsciousness and your emotional state of mind.
There is are many shooting target floating in the water that have been designed to look like James Bond with a bullet wood. This could
be a hint into what might happen later on in the film. The Targets signify violence and shooting which fit the genre of thriller.
In the next shot we see a more dark scene that looks almost like a graveyard in the woods, but instead of grave stones we see falling
knives and guns. This shows that these weapons are the main cause of death in this film.
The fourth shot shows James Bond mirroring four shadows reflected on the floor as enemies. He shoots them all, which highlights him
as hero and is strong because he is outnumbered but still manages to defeat them all. This is a common scenario in Thrillers. The titles
are now in lowercase for the listing of the roles but the names are all in capitals.
In this shot there is blood that is floating in the water that slowly forms into the shape of a skull, representing death. The camera slowly
pans into the skull to give a feel of being consumed by death or evil.
In the sixth shot the lighting and effect completely changes to a negative filter. There is also the use of a mirroring effect. We also see
the bond girl which is a very significant part to the James Bond films, the fact that the shot has a mirrored effect makes an illusion to
show more than what there actually is.
Now we fully see James Bond in a close up, he is wearing a smart suit, representing professionalism and is in a brick building that almost
looks like a maze as it is very difficult to fully know where he is. Which gives a uncomfortable feeling of being insecure and unsafe.
The lighting fully changes again in shot 8 to a deep red, representing blood, anger and danger, which are all significant to the genre. The
scene is of a graveyard corroding away by what looks like raining blood.
The last shot is an extreme close up of James Bondโs eye, the lighting is made to make the skin very pale so that the blue colour eye
stands out. The last title of the Director is show in the eye. The fact that the director is shown in James Bonds extreme close up. Shows
he is very important.
