IMHO THIS IS MY LAW
Type Systems is a course designed to polish student’s typesetting
abilities. The main project was to create a chapter book that
exhibits concept development through type. This was achieved
through type choice, typesetting and layout. The content for this
book was collected and edited.
The work that I obtained for this book was a compilation of laws
developed by great thinkers. The categories of laws varied from
personal application to those that directly applied to their career
ﬁeld. Extrapolating from the idea of breaking and obeying laws,
I designed this book based on the concept of staying inside the
lines. One of the ways that I used this concept throughout the
book was maintaining the grid lines on each spread to highlight
the constant placement of the content within the lines.

MEET THE BROWNS
This project was centered around experimentation. The objective
was to take a single color and create visual representations of
what that color embodies and symbolizes. Despite having eyes in
a lovely shade of this hue, I generally stayed away from using it
in projects. I wanted to stretch myself and chose to focus on the
color brown.
I gathered a variety of words that communicate the implied or
emotional qualities of the color brown and ﬁltered down to the
top nine. I used a variety of methods to emulate the concepts
of my chosen words. I found myself playing in mud and working
with my least favorite fruit of all time, bananas. I also created a
crochet pattern for a blanket. Through multiple experimentations
and iterations, I sought to identify the best visual solutions.

ANNUAL REPORT
The purpose of this project was to develop an annual report
that reflects the mission of an organization’s devotion to their
customer and to accurately convey the financial information
required to be published by law.
I chose a company in an industry that was unfamiliar to me. In
researching for this project, I learned a lot about Caterpillar, Inc.,
and how they've been a part of the developing world over the
last century. They are known for using large machinery to move
organic matter and my desire was to create inorganic illustrations
to convey those natural elements. My understanding of how to
transform simple shapes into figures that communicate concepts
grew through the creation of this annual report.

NATURE AS ART:
MASTER OF THE CAMERA
For this project we were tasked to create a photography book
that balanced text and the extraordinary images of Karl Blossfeldt.
A man ahead of his time, Blossfeldt was known for his ability to
magnify and capture intricate details of plant life. Determining
that the images engage a variety of audiences ranging from
gardeners and plant enthusiasts to professional photographers,
my goal was to display the images in a way that highlighted the
technicality of the photos as well as the organic forms.

UMBRA
The purpose of this course was to advance one's understanding
and ability to execute design concepts. For this project, we were
to develop an idea for a product that would improve our lives
and create the branding, which included a logo, brochure and a
three poster series.
A favorite part of my morning is applying eyeshadow and for this
project I chose to develop an adhesive pad that is applied under
the eye to catch excess eyeshadow. With the goal of targeting
fashionistas and other eyeshadow enthusiasts like myself, I drew
a hand lettered logo that conveyed fun and glamour. To empha-
sizing shadow, I primarily used black and white images coupled
with bright colors.
