Hybridoma Technology ( Production , Purification , and Application )
Over to you rocket experiments
1. Over to you – Instructions for the Rocket
Experiments
2. Resources you will need
• Along with the templates for each experiment. Which can be downloaded and printed out
You will also need:
• A4 Paper - plain or coloured
• Card – plain or coloured
• Sellotape
• PVA glue and/or Glue Stick
• Scissors
• Coloured felt tips and/or pencils or crayons
• Plastic milk bottle/drinks bottle
• Drinking straws of 2 different sizes (if possible) or rolled-up small cardboard cylinder
• Balloons in different shapes and sizes
• Some lengths of string
3. Instructions for conducting the experiments
Please read the next few slides carefully as they give you all the information
needed to carry out the various Rocket experiments with your child.
• For each experiment you will need to download and print off the templates provided and
make sure you have the additional resources stated.
• Each experiment will need to be completed following the instruction sheet and you must
record your observations.
• From your observations you and your child will need to work together to decide what variable
could be changed that would result in a different or better outcome.
• Then you will need to make a prediction about what you expect to see happen after changing
the one variable.
• Record your observations for the 2nd attempt and come to a conclusion.
• The Fair Test Proforma to be used is shown on the next slide.
• This can be completed and uploaded to the Padlet included in the section for each of the 3
experiments.
4. Fair Test Proforma
This is an image of the proforma to complete as you conduct the experiments.
A copy of it can be found with the instructions for each experiment
Can you complete one for each and upload it to the Padlet in that particular section.
Observations: This is what happened
My conclusion: I found out that
Name: ___________________________ Date:____________
How will you do this? (Outline the steps of the method you will use to conduct the experiment)
FAIR TEST
My question: (what we want to investigate)
My prediction: I predict that
I will keep the same: I will change:
Step 1 Step 2 Step 3

5. Scientific Experiment Success Criteria
For a successful experiment make sure that you have included all these factors:
• I have a hypothesis (question) I want to investigate
• I have a list of resources I need
• I have written or drawn how I am going to investigate – Method
• It is a Fair Test because I have kept everything the same except my variable
• I have only got one variable
• I have made a scientific prediction
• I have recorded my results (observations)
• I have made a conclusion from the results and linked it to my prediction
• I have used scientific vocabulary
