Let’s Engineer
Hello and Welcome to Let’s Engineer
• This session has been designed to give you an introduction to Engineering
activities that can be completed at home with your children using everyday
household resources.
• It aims to give you information about different types of Engineers and what
their jobs entail.
• It also aims to introduce you to the engineering design process and to use
this to enable you and your child to complete an challenge.
• You will see arrows throughout the presentation that can be clicked to give
you access to a whole range of information and resources.
Course Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Define what the acronym STEAM stands for and how this links to
engineering.
• Support your child with practical activities to develop problem-solving and
critical thinking skills.
• Apply the engineering design process to solve a challenge.
• Build, test and redesign a prototype.
• Identify further learning opportunities and aspirations.
