According to WHO safe motherhood service defined as
“promoting ,preventing, therapeutic or rehabilitation facility
or care for mother & child
5. Goals of safe motherhood service
• To ensure birth of a healthy infant to every expectant
mother
• To promote the health of mother
• To identify health problems in mother & neonate
• To prevent malnutrition in mothers & neonate
• To promote family planning service
• To educate the mother on improvement of her health
6. Pre-natal services
The services provided to women during pregnancy i.e. Before delivery
Aim of Pre-natal services
primary aim of pre-natal care is to achieve ,at the end of the pregnancy,
a healthy mother & baby
7. Objectives of pre-natal services
• To promote , protect & maintaim the health of mother
during pregnancy
• To detect high risk causes & special attention
• To forsee complications & prevent them
• To remove anxiety & fear associated with delivery
• To reduce maternal and infant mortality & morbidity
