2. Jake Rosenhoover
Jake Rosenhoover began his fashion career by
showing his first collection, Ghost, at VOID
Showroom in 2015.
Rosenhoover found VOID Showroom during Paris
Fall/Winter Fashion Week in 2014, and set out to put
his first collection in the showroom by Spring 2015,
which he accomplished.
Rosenhoover displayed what is now seen as his
signature theme of working in all black. Each piece in
Rosenhoover’s collections is hand stitched, and
specific to the collection. What sets Rosenhoover
apart in the fashion world is the value he puts in the
production of his collections.
At the end of each of Rosenhoover’s collections,
Rosenhoover’s last piece is meant to surprise the
audience, and think about what the collection means
to him, and to themselves. After the first collection,
Ghost, a model emerged above the crowd in a black
straight jacket, while in his second collection,
Suzanne, the show ended in the realization of a
broken love story, his own.
Rosenhoover’s latest collection, In Memory of Us…,
also held at the showroom, ended with the models
standing hand-in-hand, telling the story of life’s
trying realities while manifesting a feeling of dark
consciousness that lingered over the crowd.
Rosenhoover found comfort in VOID Showroom
because the space is like a blank canvas, making it
possible to turn bring his art to life.
“I wanted an open space to express myself freely
and bring my art to life. My first collection
meant the most to me because I made myself
vulnerable to the people closest to me and ” —
Jake Rosenhoover
