This document summarizes a poetry workshop on mental health. The workshop is facilitated by 1990s Chris, a queer poet from England. It includes immersive short films, group exploration of themes, individual expressive writing exercises, and a panel discussion on mental health with professionals. The workshop encourages using poetry to discuss issues like masculinity, class, identity and more. Participants are guided through defining terms, practicing expression, sharing work, and providing feedback to each other to promote discussion of mental health topics.

IMMERSE, EXPLORE, EXPRESS
As a group, we will immerse ourselves in 2
short films from our OLIVE Film Collection.
Together, we will explore the themes
brought up in the films through discussion.
Individually, we will express our thoughts
and feelings through writing exercises to
create poetry as a response.

Express
Trapped in your mind
Trapped in time
Looking for a way of escape
The totality of the situation
weighs heavy feels as if there is no escape
weighs you down makes you doubt
the easy way would be it causes you a frown
but the truth is your mind body and soul are bound
even the taste of bitterness and self doubt is loud
your clawing through the pain the chaos wondering if it borders on ,,,,,,,, unspeakable words
that could define you
overwhelme you and hide you
you scream you cry you push through
you survice grateful for another day
that God has kept you
you survive
living once again to push through to thrive
A tale that cracked a girl in two
Having lost sight of what’s right
Seeking beyond the night, looking for the light
Further into the darkness we go
In order to understand, it has to be shown
This is my only endeavor to grasp any sort of lever.

I an not what you have done to me
i am who God created me to be!
A Gardner: Passionate, caring, and
successful is what i have became,
You played with me and tried to end me!
As if i was a game!
Dont allow lies to succumb who
God has destined you to be:
GREAT!!!!!
I miss you and I am proud of you.
You are so brave.
Take your fear somewhere far away.
I love you forever.
…
I exhale a large sigh, and I wave goodbye
As I wait in line, I realize
The sun will shine
And things will someday be fine
My journey only started
And I don’t know where I’m going
The world has been showing
its grandeur unknowing

with family love and gratitude and my favorite food meatballs
mmmm I think this is the perfect day for meatballs
It's a rainy day, i feel the breeze through my
windiw. All i want to do is daydream! Spring
is my favorite time of the year, but in Chicago
it's a hit or miss. Cold one minute and warm
at night, keep a hat and coat within sight!
smelling fresh cut grass and soaking in the suns warm beams,
i look up to the sky and it is the most perfect shade of blue.
it is june and everything is in tune.
