Research Evaluation
The research I have done into college magazines has proved useful, as it has
informed me of what methods and preferences to take in order to attract the
attention of a potential buyer. I have found that using more than one picture in
the contents page is a good idea, as it gives the page a less boring mood and
also fills the page out more. I will be sticking to one picture on the front cover,
preferably covering the whole page at the back. I feel that in order to make the
front cover of my college magazine appealing, I will need eye-catching colours,
buzzwords, lots of puff, and the ability to meet the ideologies of the target
audience I have been given. I have learnt that for a college magazine, the
themes should be music, interviews with successful and popular people, and
discounts/free things to invoke interest from a college attendant.

The questionnaire proved to be especially helpful, as it enabled me to pinpoint
the casual target audience I have. The questionnaires informed me that an
article becomes boring when it is too long and formal; therefore I am going to
make the articles structurally different and informal. Revision tips are
something that will also be mentioned on the front cover or the contents page.

Furthermore, the costs of a college magazine were something I was unable to
estimate, so I averaged out the questionnaire’s responses to equal a sum of
75p. I feel this will appeal to the college student who, typically do not have
much income unless in a part-time job.
