Where is it ?

Holborn, Leicester Sq
BUS – 9, 11, 13, 15, 23, 139
FOOT – 20 min walk from IOE
(convenient!)
3. Getting around
If you have pre-booked a workshop (paid) you should do this first before allowing
children to explore!
Maps will be given to each group – reliatively easy to navigate with these
Toilets are situated just off of main lobby – spacious with lots of cubicles. Good
queuing space outside for school groups
Each child will be given a stamp card – we all asked for one too... Just to test them
out of course!
4. What can you do?
- Explore London transport through the years by
getting on horse drawn carriages, buses, trains with
models on board.
- Immersive experience. Ask children to tell you about
what they notice has changed over the years?
Gender, class, fashion etc.
- The models might look out of date, but some are
fairly life-like.
5. What else can you do?
- When going up in the lift, make sure you look at the
counter above the doors – the years go back in time.
- Some vehicles aren’t very clearly labelled –
opportunity to get children to compare which one is
older and why.
- Visit the piazza in Covent Garden after visiting the
museum and watch the street performers.
6. Our top tips
- Very busy with parents with young children, even
during term time. Play area only open for under 7’s.
- Avoid the tube driver simulator if in a large group.
Very cool, but could be problematic if not everybody
gets a turn!
- Give each group a different focus and allow them to
jigsaw on return to school
- The museum has sensory kits for any children with
SEND to use around the museum
