- A 3-month observational study was conducted with 11 participants who were long-term methadone users to determine if ingesting standardized cannabis capsules would reduce methadone consumption and withdrawal symptoms.
- Participants were given 40mg THC capsules daily and researchers monitored methadone use, pain levels, sleep, appetite and general well-being.
- 5 participants completed the full study, all showing a marked reduction in methadone use. Regular cannabis ingestion was associated with better sleep, less pain, and reduced methadone consumption and cravings.
