5. CASE STUDY
Introduction to basic AV at LGA
Many venues rely on their existing in-house staff
to setup and manage the installed AV equipment.
However, many of these staff members learn on the
job and don’t have any background in AV.
We work closely with venues to design a custom AV
course which is concise enough to centre around the
specificneedsofthevenue,butalsodetailedenoughto
actually provide some real CPD (Continuing Professional Development) to staff members.
Our session at the LGA was a great success with attendees feeling that they came away
with a good set of working knowledge and new found confidence in their AV abilities.
Our tutors know their respective fields inside and out and tailor the difficulty level of the
teaching appropriately.
“The course and
course materials were
excellent, we found it
very informative and
the information was
very useful”
Eileen Fahy – Venue Manager
Local Government Association
Our trainers and mentors are all DBS
checked, have a long history of working
in their respective fields and are keen to
share their skills and knowledge.
We only want to deliver relevant training
and build skills that can lead directly
to employment opportunities – so all of
our tutors are active in their respective
industries.
We also recommend our staff as speakers,
workshop leaders or guest lecturers.
We run most of our courses at Oxford
House in Bethnal Green – situated in the
bustling heart of London’s East End with
excellent transport links. Alternatively,
we can offer in-house training or bespoke
courses at your venue, office or studio.
If you have specific queries, want us to
send you more information or wish to
chat about building a specific educational
framework for your organisation or venue

CASE STUDY
Technical Event Production and
Health & Safety for A New Direction
We were contracted by the charity A New Direction to
work with a group of young adults and train them in
technical event production and health and safety.
The students were given a brief by AND to create an
event over a 5-6 week period that would require a
design team, artist liaison, marketing and technical
team.
We delivered training that covered audio engineering
skills, lighting design, PA setup, video mapping and stage management. This enabled the
students to be the technical crew for an event that was staged by a wider group involved
in the ‘Creativity Works: Live Events and Festivals’ programme.
“Cortex Training
London use their
expertise in events to
deliver exciting and
interesting training
and we will continue to
use them for projects
in 2017”
