COVER HOUSE STYLE
The house style I used for magazine is fairly typical of a lot magazines
revolving around rock and metal. The colour scheme I used mostly consists
of red on black as these are colours generally associated with rock music
and metal, which is what the magazine is about. The use of red also relates
to the name of the magazine “RAZOR” as people may often associate the
two. I also used yellow in some places where I wanted things to stand out
like “EXCLUSIVE” as yellow easily stands out on black and red, and its still
fits with the house style.
I used 3 different fonts on the main cover and made sure that they fit in with
the house style. They were mostly bold fonts with sharp edges.
I tried to make the cover look crowded like lot of rock magazines, such as
„Kerrang‟ do, as I think that it gives the magazine a feel appropriate to its
genre. I also feel that I used the rule of thirds fairly effectively, the left third
of the page dominates most of the information, my masthead and the head
of my image are sat at in the top third. I tried to make sure that there was
no dead space or white space remaining on the page as I did not feel that it
would have fit the overall house style of the magazine.
COMPARISON
One magazine I took inspiration from for my cover page was Kerrang. As you can see
from the analysis‟ I have used a lot of the same conventions as Kerrang magazine does
such as the selling line, menu bar and plugs. You can also see the that the positioning
of some things such as plugs is similar positions and both of the covers have a
crowded feel to them. They also both use the same colours, however Kerrang used
them in a different way to how I did. Kerrang used red to highlight important or
exclusive features whereas I used yellow.

CONTENTS HOUSE STYLE
AND COMPARISON
I used similar colours on my contents page as I did on the cover
page, however I made much more use as the colour white as a
background so that the text stood out more. I also used red
instead of yellow to make things stand out as it contrasted the
white background better. I only used two fonts on this page, one
to write the editorial and one to write information about the
contents, I think that the font I picked fits the house style very
well because of the sharp edges.

For the contents page I used a style very similar to the metal
hammer contents page. I used this style because I have not
seen it used in any other magazines and I felt that it fit the
house style very well. I also tried to make it look fairly crowded
with images like the metal hammer page and I like the lack of
white and dead space used so I also tried to imitate that.
