Introduction:
In the pursuit of fostering active senior participation in environmental programs and
campaigns, the ERASMUS+ Strategic Partnerships KA220 Adult Education initiative called
"Seniors4Sustainability" is making significant strides. Project number 2021-1-DE02-KA220-
ADU-000026030, commenced with its first meeting held in Berlin, Germany, on the 26th-
27th of April 2022. Hosted by the Arabisches Deutsches Center für Dialog e. V. – WASLA,
the meeting marked a crucial milestone in bringing together representatives from diverse
partner organizations across Europe.
Building Partnerships:
Ten representatives from four partner organizations, including WASLA (Germany), Rinascita
Cooperativa Sociale (Italy), SMARTUP N.B. SYSTEMATIC MANAGEMENT SL (Spain),
and Social DNA (the Netherlands), physically attended the meeting. Additionally, four
representatives from Acumen Training (Poland) and ROSI (France) joined virtually via
Zoom. The meeting aimed at achieving several objectives, ranging from getting to know
partner organizations and participants to clarifying project management details, establishing
responsibilities, addressing administrative issues, and encouraging intercultural dialogue.
Project Objectives and Planning:
During the meeting, the partners engaged in discussions regarding the project's
implementation, common rules, and task distribution. Notably, each partner presented
information about their working fields, background, and experience through PowerPoint
presentations. The partners collectively decided on a new project implementation timeframe
and outlined the deadlines and responsible partners for each activity. This detailed planning
includes project results, meetings, and multiplier events scheduled up to October 2023.
2. Project Implementation and Collaboration:
The partners also engaged in discussions on the implementation of project results, decided on
common partnership rules, and shared tasks for each partner. The collaborative spirit was
evident as partners brainstormed and voted on the project logo, which was created by
SMARTUP in Spain. Furthermore, the decision to create a Facebook project page and manage
it collaboratively, along with the agreement on the format of the newsletter and the project
hashtag for dissemination, showcased the commitment to effective communication and
outreach.
Moving Forward:
With positive feedback from all participants, the meeting successfully achieved its objectives.
Partners expressed their readiness to proceed with the actual implementation of the project
activities. The next project meeting is scheduled to take place in the Netherlands on the 13th-
14th of October 2022. As the project progresses, it aims to empower seniors for sustainability,
promote intercultural dialogue, and strengthen the sense of belonging to the European
community.
Conclusion:
The Seniors4Sustainability project under ERASMUS+ Strategic Partnerships KA220 Adult
Education is off to a promising start, bringing together diverse organizations with a common
goal. Through collaborative planning, clear communication, and shared responsibilities, the
partners are set to make a meaningful impact on seniors' active participation in environmental
initiatives. As the project unfolds, it is poised to contribute significantly to the broader
objectives of adult education and community engagement in sustainability efforts across
Europe.
