· Monitoring of Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for Long Belt Conveyor, Connecting Road and
Housing areas (6 mm over a period of 27 months from Oct. 2002 to Dec. 2004);
· Environmental Impact Assessment Study of Overland Elevated Long Belt Conveyor (10 km)
Project (Aug. 2003 to Jan. 2004);
· IEE of Connecting Access Road Project (Apr. to July 2002)
Works included identification of probable impacts and detail management plan for construction of long
belt conveyor. Review of regulatory frame work for resettlement action plan, comparison of laws for social
and environmental aspects between National (DOE) and Donor agency (WB/IFC). Preparation of detail
compensation and implementation plan for project affected people for the implementation of connecting
road, long belt conveyor and housing.
Environmental Engineer, Conducted IEE/EIA of land development project Ashulia Model Town at Savar,
Green Model Town at Matual and Baro Awolia Housing Society at Sitakunda, Chittagong undertaken by
Private Developers including review of regulatory environmental framework for infrastructure development
project, collection of baseline data and analysis, identification and evaluation of probable impacts,
technical editing of IEE/EIA report, preparation of waste management plan, formulation of environmental
management and monitoring plans (June to Aug. 2003).
Environmental Engineer, Baseline Fisheries Study at Upper Meghna river system for 450 MW Power
Plant (CCGT) of AES Meghnaghat Ltd. Works included: Review of regulatory frame work for fisheries
sector, preparation of baseline environmental conditions of the study area, identification of fisheries
impacts due to pollutants (BOD5, Oil & grease, heavy metals etc.), assisting the team with primary data
collection and interpretation of data analysis(3 mm over a period of 12 months Apr. 2001 to Mar.
2002).
From August 2001 to February 2002 : Research Fellow (Environmental Engineer),
Bangladesh Centre of Advanced Studies (BCAS)
Management of Aquatic Eco System through Community Husbandry (MACH) at Kaliakhair,
Gazipur district (funded by USAID) being threatened by effluent from leather tanning, textile finishing
and dyeing, poultry farm and metal anodizing plants. Works included:
- review all available data on the effluents from the industries located at Kaliakoir;
- provide technical assistance to the industries for the implementation of Cleaner
Production Program;

- monitoring and awareness building in beneficiary community;
- workshops and seminars with different stakeholders, govt. officials, and representatives
from civil societies to review MACH activities and suggest ways to further abate the pollution
problems
- review, edit and finalize the pollution report (Phase-I).
- Organize consultative meetings with industrialist, stakeholder, local community to make
them aware of the pollution problem and mitigation options like cleaner production and
Environmental Management System (EMS).

Environmental Management Action Plan (E-MAP) Study for Khulna and Rajshahi cities under
Municipal Services Project of LGED funded by World Bank. Assisted the Team Leader in developing an
environmental management action plan to ensure community involvement in the design, O&M of
environmental sanitation including water supply, sewage disposal, wastewater management, solid
waste management and sanitary landfill operations, review environmental legislation for urban
sanitation, solid waste and wastewater disposal; study to facilitate involvement of local level NGOs,
CBOs in application of the PPA in water supply, public toilets, solid waste and drainage; investigate
O&M of existing public toilets, examine on –site sanitation in examine present state of maintenance of
small bore sewerage system in Khulna (Khalishpur), examine the existing solid waste management in
Rajshahi and Khulna City and suggest and design improved management plans including organizational
improvement. (Sep. 2000-Mar. 2001)
Community Based Water Supply and Sanitation Project (CWSSP) of DPHE funded by UNDP for
the arsenic affected villages in the district of Kishoreganj, Chandpur, Shariatpur and Manikganj.
Review of existing water supply pattern and arsenic contamination, suitable water supply options, cost
estimate of each option, operating expenses, preliminary design of selected water supply options,
conduct EIA and recommend future action plan (Feb-Jun 2000).
Team Leader, Preparation of Environmental Monitoring Report on Post Halda Drilling Operation at
Halda for Shell/Cairn. Works included: reconnaissance/field visit to the drilling site to examine/assess
the current state of affaires prevalent in and around the drilling site, select sampling locations and
coordinate works of water/soil/air sampling, organize analytical examination of the collected samples
from the respective laboratory, interpret laboratory test results and prepare environmental monitoring
report. (Jan.1999-Jan. 2000).

Preparation of Sector-wise Industrial Guidelines and Standards for the Department of Environment,
DoE (IDA credit 2340-BD) in association with AIC Watson India. (Oct. 1996 to June 1997).Works
included:
- review of the existing industrial environmental situation and develop standards for
fertilizer, cement, textile and pulp and paper sectors.
- review of environmental quality standards in general;
- review of environmental regulatory framework in Bangladesh and identify gaps;
- assess waste management and control practice and compared with Regional practice;

Environmental Engineer, Dhaka Urban Infrastructure Improvement Project (DWASA Component)
funded by ADB. Responsibilities included periodic site inspections to ensure that construction of
water, sewerage systems are in accordance with the design specification; design modification of small
bore sewerage system, water storage tanks, water supply distribution system, sewage collection and
treatment / disposal system as per site condition at Mirpur complying with all ADB and WHO
environmental guidelines on health and hygiene. (Sept.1994 to Sep 1995).
Environmental Engineer, Industrial Pollution Control Management Bangladesh under
Department of Environment and Ministry of Industries financed by ADB (TA No. 1769 BAN). The
objective of the project was to assist the Government in strengthening the existing framework to
improve the industrial environment & to monitor industrial pollution control measures. Works included
inventory of industries, their processes and waste outputs; identify process types and characteristics
of waste, improvement of process, pollution control measures and waste treatment (Mar. to Sep
1995).
