The Indus
 The ultimate source of the Indus is in
Tibet. It flows northwest through Ladakh
-Baltistan into Gilgit, just south of the
Karakoram range. Then flows in a southerly direction along the entire
length of Pakistan to merge into the Arabian Sea near the port city of
Karachi in Sindh.
The Indus system is largely fed by the snows and glaciers of the
Karakoram, Hindu Kush and Himalayan
ranges of Tibet, Kashmir and Northern
Areas of Pakistan.
The total length of the river is 3,180 km
(1,980 mi).
 It is Pakistan's longest river.

 Jhelum River is a river that flows
in India and Pakistan.
 It is the largest and most western
of the five rivers of Punjab, and passes through Jhelum District.
 It is a tributary of the Chenab
River and has a length of about

 It flows from Jammu and Kashmir
It is joined by the Jhelum River at
Trimmu and then by the Ravi. It then
merges with the Sutlej River near Uch Sharif to form the Panjnad or
the 'Five Rivers‘, the fifth being the Beas River which joins the Satluj
near Ferozepur, India. The Satluj then joins the Indus at Mithankot.

near Uch Sharif in Pakistan, forming the Panjnad River. The

 Haleji Lake is a perennial
freshwater lake situated 88km
away from Karachi in the
Thatta district.
Haleji Lake provides shelter to
around 223 species of migratory
birds and thus is the largest bird
sanctuary in Asia.

watcher’s paradise, Haleji Lake
also supplies water to the city
of Karachi.

 Saiful Muluk is a mountainous
lake located in the Mansehra district
of KPK about 8 kms north of Naran.
It feeds water to Kunhar river.
At an elevation of 3,224 m
(10,578 feet) above sea level,

 Satpara Lake is a natural lake
near Skardu, which supplies water
to Skardu Valley.
The melting ice of the Deosai
plains are main source of
water for the lake.
 Satpara Lake is situated at an
elevation of 2,636 meters (8,650 ft)
above sea level and is spread over
an area of 2.5 km².

6. Kachura
 The Kachura Lakes are 2 lakes in the
Skardu. The lakes, at 2,500 m(8,200 ft)
in elevation, are Upper Kachura Lake
and Lower Kachura Lake.
The Lower is also known as
Shangrila Lake and is outside
the town of Skardu.
The lakes are in the Karakoram
mountain range of the western
Himalayas,
