Workplace is the place where someone is working. Ethics are relating to the morals. It is a set of principles right and wrong behavior guidance, or it represents a specific culture, society, group or individual. Behavior shows who we are and could unconsciously lead us to be what without a wish. Ethic draws you to what you wish to be, which is relating to the morals. You have to keep mind that whenever and wherever you are such as at workplace, and there always has rules that you must obey its regulation that limits some of your rights at workplace. It is because we stay under the rules or under the control. We could not see what is right and wrong behavior without the rules.
Purpose:
The purpose of this webinar is to spread awareness among the people about workplace ethics for obeying the rules and ensuring the professionalism and quality working to treat people at the same way.
3. In general, it means following a
system of rules or laws what right
behavior is, how to treat your fellow
human beings and what to do under
challenging circumstances.
Ethical Practices
7. Ethical systems vary form country to country and
culture to culture but are usually based on religious
and philosophical outlook about what is best for
humanity. Usually, companies have their own code
of ethics and if they don’t have, one should follow
the cultural or religious definition of ethics.
Who Defines Them?
8. “Decades of evidence shows us that situations can
persuade even the most ethical and compassionate
people to betray their own values”.
-Phil Zimbardo.
Why good people do bad things?
12. Obey The Company’s Rules
& Regulation
It is very important to follow
instructions and rules in your
workplace, because without obeying
rules and regulations many
unwarranted side effects may occur.
14. Take Responsibility
This is, in fact, a leadership trait that every
employee who is looking to take up a
managerial position in the future should
exhibit.
15. Show Initiative without
being told
Is the company running behind deadline
and you feel you can stay a few extra
hours after work to finish up? Do it.
16. Work Smarter
Don't just work hard, work smarter.
The reason why you see an employee
promoted to the post of manager
after just 2 years and a hardworking
employee who has been with the
company for 10 years failed to get a
promotion is smart work.
18. Lies
Lying is a trait that is detested in and
outside the workplace. It kills trust,
affects relationships and may even
put people in trouble.
19. Taking Credit for Others
Hard Work
It is very common for managers to take credit
for their team member's hard work when
reporting to the management. A team
member may have brought an idea that
helped the sales team improve their sales by
200%.
20. Non-Office Related
Work
A lot of employees have side hustles which
they use to supplement salaries. This is
highly unethical if it is affecting the
efficiency of your work in that particular
company.
21. Extended Breaks
Companies give lunch breaks to employees
and people take advantage of these breaks
to do other things outside office work like, go
for interviews, meet with friends or even
work on their side hustles. They are free to
do whatever they want these lunch breaks.
23. Have Rules
Organizations need to have
predefined rules and regulations
regarding workplace ethics. These
rules and regulations should be
given to new employees together
with their employment contracts.
24. Swift Justice/Disciplinary Action
Some Companies often cover up issues of rape, sexual
harassment, etc. when the perpetrator is a high-ranking
member of the organization. Things like this should not be
accommodated.
26. Promote knowledge
Don’t just offer code of conduct or ethics
training to new hires as one of the ways to
prevent unethical behavior in the workplace.
Routinely provide refresher courses to your
existing staff.
27. Provide tools
Consider implementing a reporting system that
allows your employees to disclose conduct
violations anonymously, and identify
procedures for staff to request private
meetings with supervisors responsible for
ethics oversight.
28. Be proactive
Organizations that lacked anti-fraud controls
suffered greater average losses—often twice
as much—from ethics violations.
29. Employ data monitoring
Another effective way to prevent unethical
behavior in the workplace is to establish
management review boards to investigate
possible violations to the code of conduct. Set
up reporting hotlines or email accounts that
are capable of capturing relevant details
including corresponding documentation or the
names of potential witnesses.
30. Foster ethical behavior
When evaluating candidates during the hiring
process, you should consider their values and
whether they fit into the company’s vision.
Distribute responsibilities across employees
and departments, creating a system of checks
and balances that reduce the risk of unethical
behavior.
