4. ₪Have you ever wondered, if we gather all
the plastic from our houses it will reach
mountain heights or way more than it.
₪Plastic is a very useful material as it is
used for making various things but at the
same time it can also be very harmful for
mother Earth. Unknowingly we are the
reason for the harm of mother Earth
because we always buy more and more
plastic stuff in our daily lives but after a
few months or years we throw it.
₪The main impact of plastic is that it takes
millions of years to decompose.
₪This picture shows what decomposed
plastic looks like. You can’t spot much
difference between a normal plastic
and a decomposed one.

5. DID YOU KNOW?
₪ About 12% of waste is plastic waste.
₪ Around 275 million tonnes of plastic waste is generated each year around the
world.

7. The burning of plastics releases toxic gases like dioxins,
furans, mercury and polychlorinated biphenyls (better
known as BCPs) into the atmosphere, and poses a threat
to vegetation, and human and animal health.
• Globally, in this year alone, researchers estimate
that the production and incineration of plastic will
pump more than 850 million tonnes of greenhouse
gases into the atmosphere. By 2050, those
emissions could rise to 2.8 billion tonnes.
• Chlorinated plastic can release harmful chemicals into
the surrounding soil, which can then seep into
groundwater or other surrounding water sources, and
also the ecosystem. This can cause a range of
potentially harmful effects on the species that drink
the water.

9. • Chlorinated plastic can release harmful
chemicals into the surrounding soil, which can
then seep into groundwater or other
surrounding water sources, and also the
ecosystem.
• Plastics can change the soil chemistry. Films
could increase water evaporation, drying out
the soil. Plastic surfaces could allow toxic
substances to accumulate in ways that they
couldn't in organic soil.
• Plastic films, which increased soil water
evaporation, may lead to more pronounced
drought and subsequently promote the growth
of drought-resistant plant species in a
community.

Avoid single-use plastics such as drinking straws
Say NO to plastic bags. If you go shopping,
remember to take a cloth bag.
Recycle chewing gum... it's also made of plastic!
Buy more bulk food and fewer packaged products
Avoid plastic cutlery. Replace plastic Tupperware
for glass or steel containers
When hanging out washing use wooden pegs
instead of plastic ones
Make those around you aware of the importance of
reducing the consumption of plastic

in the correct recycling container
Avoid using cosmetics that use micro-
plastics, buy a biodegradable brush and
wear natural fabrics
Choose to reuse and give some of the
packaging a new purpose

17. • Reuse means –use of old Items
We should reuse the old items like
plastic, Papers & glasses as per
requirement.
• Recycle :-
The process of converting
waste into new product is known
as recycling. Recycling is the best
method to protect the environment
by reducing carbon emissions. It
helps to reduce waste .
• Reduce :-
Reducing is when you don't use
something . use what you need ,
don’t use excess materials/items .

• Natural Spaces
• Energy
• Environment
• Landfill space
