McKenzie Berndt Introduction McKenzie Berndt My name is McKenzie Berndt. I have been married for 17 years to my husband Josh and have two children; Hallee who is 15 and Josh Jr. who is 11. My family and I currently live in South Carolina. My husband is in the military and over the past 17 years we have lived in seven states. We are planning on staying here in South Carolina until our daughter graduates from high school and then plan on moving out west where most of our family lives. 2 Degree/specialization I currently am certified in Emotional Disabilities but work as a behavior resource teacher at an elementary school. The class I teach is a pilot program to assist students with behavioral issues and teaching the students how to regulate his or her emotions. I teach a lot of social skills and also push in with students during times where he or she have difficulties. Since implementing this program the school I am at has seen a huge decline in behavior and I am hoping that this program will continue on to other schools in our district. 3 Goal My goal in earning this degree is to try and learn as much information that I can and use that information within the classroom. I want to be able to help as many students as I can and help him or her to reach his or her goals and dreams. 4 Learning Outcomes The mastery of each CLO will make me more marketable in my profession because it will give me the knowledge and skills of how to integrate different things into the classroom so that my students can be more successful. It also gives me the understanding of diverse learners and how to teach so that each student learns to the best of his or her ability. This also allows me to be more effective by learning about how to utilize different strategies for the different types of learners. Knowing and understanding how to do this will make me a better employee and teacher. 5 Final project For the final project I will be presenting to a board about integrating technology more into the classrooms at the school in my district. I will have to show how it will benefit students in these schools and make sure to use a lot of different types of graphics that do not take away from my information. I’m thinking that I will take the stance of an educator because being in the classroom and seeing how technology will enhance learning from an educator’s point of view will benefit my proposal. I think having the knowledge of what the classroom is like now and how it could be if technology were integrated is beneficial. I think this project is exciting because technology is becoming more prevalent in society and so students need to utilize it so he or she have a better understanding of how it works so it will prepare him or her for after school is over. Hello Everyone, My name is Trevis Turner and I am a 54 year
old single mother of two beautiful daughter 31 and 23 and I

first page , I am a Guardian AD Litem in North Carolina
servicing two counties.

Masters in Special Education
I am currently pursuing my degree in Special Education, but I
will definitely be using my degree to help my church and the
children in the community with their disabilities. My plan is to
give them the extra support needed outside the classroom and
the church will provide a facility for this purpose.

Evaluate how the purposeful integration of technology in
instruction and assessment supports student acquisition of 21st
century skills.
Evaluate a variety of digital and assistive technologies for
supporting diverse learners.
Apply the principles of Universal Design for learning (UDL) in
the design of instruction and assessment.
Analyze the impact of technological competency on
professional advancement.
The clip art says it all for me, the CLO’s are definitely inspiring
and motivational, I just hope I will be able to gain the
knowledge and skills that it will take to be able to apply this to
my future for the children’s sake. The world is definitely tech
savvy and I will need much help in this area. However; the

5. CLO’s will help me be able to market the materials that I will
be needing for the community outreach programs that will help
children with disabilities. The more I learn how to use the
different digital outlets the more people I will be able to reach.
Children love to use video equipment, cell phones, tablets, and
computers so we have to upgrade and move with the 21st
century with technology.

FINAL PROJECT
The role that I will be playing for my final project will be a
Community Center Representative. I am excited to learn about
how to market and engage the community with the ideas I have
for the children with disabilities. My concern is being able to
being able to use the skills needed for the digital technology.
My children are still teaching me how to sue my cellphone
features.
I look forward to learning how to use the technology for this
class.

Charlotte Edwards Haymaker
I am pursuing a degree in Special Education.
My goal for using my special education master’s degree is to
apply the knowledge toward getting my special education
teaching credential and then move forward to special education
administration eventually, after some more higher education of

6. course. I currently work as a health instructional aide in a
public school district. I usually am paired with moderate/severe
violent emotionally disturbed kiddos, and I love my job.
Learning is all about technology these days and without
knowledge of the new things that are being used we would be
holding our students back. I am the first to accept that I am not
the most diverse in the way of technology use in general. Being
that I am usually with moderate/severe students, everyday has
been about surviving the meltdown. Maybe with better
understanding of the CLOs this year will be more about learning
and less about surviving. The more experience you have in the
field of teaching and less in surviving makes you more
marketable in this field. As for effectiveness in practice goes, I
really believe that no child fits the cookie cutter mold that
education wants us to put them in. Our exceptional students
especially. So having more ways to help change these kids’
lives and education is the thing that makes me feel like this will
make me a more effective teacher in the future.
My understanding of the final project is that we are to assume
the role of an educator (likely my choice) or a community
center representative to plan and present an event for the
community to better understand the need for use of technology
in the classroom and community centers. This must include
plans to allow the community to interact with the different
technologies you think should be in the classroom and
community centers as well as demonstration plans for those that
are not interactive. The goal is to help the community
understand what is being used in the classrooms and community
centers and why. Being that it has been a while since I have
been in a community center and am in a classroom every day I
will likely choose the role of the educator. I am excited to learn
about different technologies that are being used now. As I
mentioned before, I am not exactly the most technologically
savvy, so this is going to be a great research project for me. My

7. concern is that I won’t quite understand the different uses of the
different available technologies. I don’t currently use my phone
to its full potential. Anything I learn from this course will
further my knowledge of technology and will be used in my
