1. WILLIAM PHUMULANI NDHLOVU
I’m William Ndhlovu from Burgersfort Limpopo and I’m 23 years old. I was raised by
my grandmother, and I started school at Lesedi crèche, moved to Mogabudi primary
school and matriculated at Phaahla secondary school. I’m currently a member in
Bothashoek born free movement and doing third year in education majoring with
Physical sciences and geography, and I’m also a co-researcher in South African
rurality in higher education research project.
My hobbies include playing soccer and reading, mostly short stories and poetry. I like
to look at myself as a loner, and an observant and a questioning individual. My favorite
color is blue and green because I’m deeply moved by the beauties of life.
Expectations
As an education student, I expect to improve my technological skills with the help of the online
module. Which involve putting more effort and time on the module by checking Blackboard
regularly.
2. I expect to learn how to use technology in my as a student teacher for a benefit of knowing in
future as a teacher to be able to accommodateevery learner in my class,and mostimportantly
choosing activities that are appropriate for every media in my lessons.
I expect to invest my time in a computer and internet access for checking assessments and
activities that might be available on blackboard, and most importantly checking my emails
regularly, so that no assessment is missed.
I expect to consult to reach out for help from tutors or lecture whenever I come across
difficulties in the module.
Technological ability
I would say that my technological skills or ability are average neither poor or good because I
can use devices in terms of writing on words and editing, however I feel like it still need to be
improve in terms of using internet for checking information, and most important on drawing
graphs using word or making slides using power points.
Biggest challenges as a student
The major challenge I face as a student is saying no to other people when they ask help from
me, and this has led to most student using me in terms of writing their school work. The other
challenge is makingfriends which are supportive towards my school work and those that have
the same goals as me which has resulted in me being a loner when I’m around campus. The
last but not least challenge is to focus and get my work done when it is too much.
Kind of educator
A kind of educator with the believe that every learner is the same and can learn in their own
way and pace, so I will be a teacher who use learner centered strategies and treat learners as
equal partners in the learning process. Whose role involves using my expertise to put the
necessary resources in the hands of the learns or more likely to be sure that my learners are
well equipped to find and evaluate the resources they need to answer their question. This
include me being a facilitator not a provider of information.
I want to be a kind of teacher who encourage cooperation among learners, encourage active
learning, gives prompt feedback, emphasized time on task, communicates high expectation
and respect diverse talent and ways of learning, and most importantly a teacher who use
technology more often in every lesson.
The only thing that get me up every morning is knowing that I’m the first child to get a
chance to go to university, and knowing that most of my family looks up to me in
3. breaking the circle of poverty in my family. Most importantly what gets me up in the
morning is believing that I’m blessed to reach university and I have to work hard every
single day to be successful.
