The usage of platters is the primary distinction between offset printing and digital printing. Offset involves plates that are rolled onto a sheet of paper and used to transfer an image onto a rubber blanket. Because the ink is not applied directly to the paper, it is called offset printing. Since there are no plates involved, toner is applied straight to the paper when printing digitally. Digital setup takes substantially less time, making it suitable for on-demand jobs that last for a shorter time.
