1. THE OPENING SEQUENCE
Our opening sequence will start with a close-up of a characters face, with
the setting unknown. Then it will fade or dissolve into the same character
going about his daily business. But his sanity is doubtful as he keeps
spotting a certain person looking at him surreptitiously everywhere he goes.
Then as our main character is shown getting out of his car and attempting
to enter his house This mysterious person walks to him at a quick pace, we
then apply a flash transition and show the main character tied up in a
basement, only then will the audience realise that this mystery person most
probably played a part in this kidnapping. By doing a crime thriller, we want
to put the audience into the hostage’s shoes in order to create
empathy, tension and also excitement.
Rest of the film (unseen)
The rest of the film leads the audience on a psychological journey
following the hostage battling insanity and trying to escape. The
kidnapper tries to indoctrinate the hostage about how society and
general life is controlled by a higher power (e.g. government). The
hostage becomes mentally unstable himself and does not realise what’s
real and what’s not. Eventually, the hostage manages to escape but by
that time its too late and he is already brainwashed. He starts doing to
people he knows what he had done to him.
2. Our opening sequence’s main hybrid will be a psychological thriller, but
will also contain elements of horror.
We thought that through this sub-genre, we will successfully and
effectively engage the audience in the short time limit we have been
given. Also, we believe that it will ask many questions and raise the
audience’s anticipation levels. Also, I thought that by doing a
crime/psychological thriller, it gives you freedom to be creative and make
a complex plot.

4. NARRATIVE
In the opening sequence, the narrative is fractured. But then it begins
to flow chronologically, therefore revealing to the audience how the
characters arrived at their predicaments and what will happen to them
later on in the film, avoiding too much confusion. Our main character
will be the point of the narrative and the voiceover in the opening
sequence
5. Mike, our main character, will be represented as slightly insane in how he keeps seeing this
certain person everywhere he goes, also vulnerable so the audience can empathise as well as
sympathise with him.
Our antagonist, if so to say, Josh, will be portrayed as a scary, mysterious person who will be
the pivotal point of all tension that is created in the opening sequence
Our opening sequence will be filmed in several locations. For example, a
basement, driveway, middle of town. This will create pace and will be successful in showing
the audience our main characters thoughts, which is linked in with the action of our opening.
