Target AUDIENCE
The genre of your opening and the signifiers of this (as discovered though your
real media research) What your audience are expecting to see?
We chose a ‘Romantic thriller’ as our opening sequence. The majority of the audience did not mind
weather the main character was male of female. 55% of people did not mind seeing a stereo-
typical or counter-typical character. The opening sequence is preferred to be both narrative and
character. It had also been shown that the most popular choice that the audience wanted the
music to be was ‘mystery-esque’. The audience chose a variety of places for the opening
sequence to be set at. We as a group then chose to have the filming at a house to make it seem
more creepy and secretive.
4. The opening sequence will start with dramatic, mystery-esque music whilst
showing an establishing shot is of the house. The setting is an suburban street
in the middle of a cold dark day. The camera will move towards the door that
has been open slightly.
When the camera switches to being in the house it shows a picture of an army
man in his uniform then it will show the destruction that has happened within the
household, with blood all over the floor. As the camera moves along the floor it
will reveal a female hand that has blood all over it. The scene then quickly skips
onto the next scene where a man is lying in the blood filled bath where he has
been murdered. This will create mystery and tension for the audience
The main character is then revealed when, sitting on the floor curled up in a ball
crying and shaking with fear. She will have the basic clothes on but will be
looking like she is disturbed.
