3. Topicsmaster
Choose an appropriate topic
Not too complex; more than just a yes or no answer
Encourage opinions or sharing experiences
Try to ask different questions of each speaker
Call on people that don’t have a meeting role first
Give everyone a chance to speak during a meeting
Host the table topics
Call on speakers, greet them before, thank them after
Never leave the podium or lectern unattended
Watch the time
4. Evaluator
Practice good listening skills
Talk to the speaker
Find out their goals
Review the project
Answer the questions for the project
Make notes of impressions during the speech
Compile feedback for verbal evaluation
Be encouraging – give the evaluation you would want to
receive
5. General Evaluator
Evaluate any portion of the meeting. Especially give feedback
on:
Evaluations
Timer
WAGmaster
Toastmaster
Make notes during the meeting
What went well, what didn’t
What was missing
Give verbal evaluation
6. Timer
Grab the appropriate equipment
Stopwatch or timekeeping app
Green, amber, red signals
Note speech times for each project
Get familiar with timing for table topics and evaluations
Give report when called on
Give completed report to the secrtary
7. WAGmaster
Word of the Day
Move a word from written to verbal usage
Challenging but memorable and understandable
Write it somewhere visible to the speaker or on a card for the lectern
Ah counter
Develop listening skills
Count crutch words and phrases
Listen for verbal issues
Give verbal report on grammar misuse and the ah-counter
report
8. Table Topics Speaker
Keep the time limit in mind – 1-2 minutes
Always strive to speak at least the minimum amount of time
Wrap up quickly if you get the red signal
Impromptu speaking is a skill

Write an introduction for the Toastmaster. Include:

Manual & Project Number
A short description
Bring your manual
Talk to your evaluator about goals
Always give a manual speech
