3. 1768 was an excise tax collector in England, he was discharged twice from his post in four years.

4. 1774, Benjamin Franklin helped him migrate to Philadelphia.

5. His career than turned to Journalism. In 1776, he published “Common Sense”.

6. In 1776-83, he published “The Crisis” which was very popular.

7. In 1776-83, he wrote “The Rights of Man”.

8. In 1793 he was imprisoned in France for not endorsing the execution of Louis 16.

9. During his imprisonment he wrote “The Age of Reason” in 1794-96.

10. He was freed in 1794.

11. Pain discovered that his contributions to the American Revolution had been all but eradicated due to his religious views. Derided by the public and abandoned by his friends, he died on June 8, 1809 at the age of 72 in New York City.
