WHAT IS AI?•Artificial Intelligence is a branch of Science which dealswith helping machines and finds solutions to complexproblems in a more human-like fashion.•Artificial Intelligence can help us understand thisprocess by recreating it, then potentially enabling us toenhance it beyond our current capabilities

SPEECH RECOGNITIONWHAT IS SPEECH RECOGNITION?A speech recognition system is a type of softwarethat allows the user to have their spoken wordsconverted into written text in a computerapplication such as a word processoror spreadsheet. The computer can also becontrolled by the use of spoken commands.
  • 5. The user speaks to the computer through amicrophone, which in turn, identifies the meaning of thewords and sends it to NLP device for further processing. Oncerecognized, the words can be used in a variety of applicationslike display, robotics,commands to computers, anddictation.
  • 6. SPEECH RECOGNITION PROCESS
  • 7. •The input speech signal, s[n], is converted to the sequence of featurevectors, X = {x1,x2,…,xT }, by the feature analysis block (also denoted spectralanalysis) the frequency spectrum coefficients are widely used to represent the short-time spectral characteristics.•the pattern classification block decodes the sequence of feature vectorsinto a symbolic representation that is the maximum likelihoodstring, Ŵ that could have produced the input sequence of feature vectors.•The pattern recognition system uses a set of acoustic models and a wordlexicon to provide the acoustic match score for each proposed string.• Also, an N-gram language model is used to compute a language modelscore for each proposed word string. Final block is verification block.

WHERE SPEECH RECOGNITION IS GOING?Television are anticipated to be one of the biggest areas of the growth ofvoice recognition.Automobiles Ford cars on the road have Sync with voice recognitionintroduced software called Dragon Drive that will let other car manufacturersadd voice-control features to vehicles. One reason voice interfaces have become popular on smart phones is thatusers speak directly into the device’s microphone. To ensure that the systemworks well in televisions and cars, where there is more background noise, thecompany is experimenting with array microphones and noise-cancelingtechnology.
  • 9. APPLICATIONS:One of the main benefits of speech recognition system is that itlets user do other works simultaneously. The user canconcentrate on observation and manual operations, and stillcontrol the machinery by voice input commands. Another major application of speech processing is inmilitary operations. Voice control of weapons is an example.With reliable speech recognition equipment, pilots can givecommands and information to the computers by simplyspeaking into their microphones - they don’t have to use theirhands for this purpose.
