The village of Smolenskoye was named after the
icon of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God
"Hodegetria”.
The village of Smolenskoye is situated near the
Altay Mountains. It is 35 km from the town of Biysk.
The village dates back to the middle of the 18th
century when the Cossacks founded the first
fortress.
