3. z The Seven Rila Lakes
The first landmark that we will
introduce you to is:
The Seven Rila Lakes are a group of
glacial lakes, situated in the
northwestern Rila Mountain in
Bulgaria. Situated between 2,100
and 2,500 metres elevation above
sea level, they are the most visited
group of lakes in Bulgaria.

Shipka Monument
The Liberty Memorial, also known as
the Shipka Monument is а symbol of
modern Bulgaria and the liberation of
Bulgaria. The monument is the heart of
the Shipka National Park-Museum and
is located on Shipka Peak in the Balkan
Mountains.The monument signifies the
heroic defense of the pass. The latter
also predetermined the outcome of the
Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878).

The Monastery of Saint John of Rila,
also known as Rila Monastery "Sveti
Ivan Rilski" , is the largest and most
famous Eastern Orthodox monastery in
Bulgaria. It is situated in the
southwestern Rila Mountains, 117 km
south of the capital Sofia in the deep
valley of the Rilska River at an
elevation of 1,147 m above sea level,
inside of Rila Monastery Nature Park.

Baba Vida
Baba Vida is a medieval castle in
Vidin in northwestern Bulgaria and
the town's primary landmark. It
consists of two concentric curtain
walls and about nine towers of
which three are preserved to their
full medieval height, including the
original battlements, and is the only
entirely preserved medieval castle
in the country.

Bistrica waterfall is located in Rila
mountain, near Bistrica village,
Dupnitsa municipality. The waterfall
was formed on the Bistrishka River,
which is full at any time of the year,
and has a height of about 35m. The
walk to the waterfall and to the
Samokovishte area takes about 4-5
hours on foot in both directions.

Belogradchik Rocks
The Belogradchik Rocks are a group
of strangely shaped sandstone and
conglomerate rock formations located
on the western slopes of the Balkan
Mountains near the town of
Belogradchik in northwest Bulgaria.
The rocks vary in color from
primarily red to yellow; some of the
rocks reach up to 200 m in height.
Many rocks have fantastic shapes and
are associated with interesting
legends.

Madara Rider
The Madara Rider or Madara
Horseman is a large early
medieval rock relief carved on
the Madara Plateau east of
Shumen in northeastern Bulgaria,
near the village of Madara. The
monument is dated to the very
late 7th or more often the very
early 8th century, during the
reign of the Bulgar Khan Tervel.
In 1979, the monument was listed
as a UNESCO World Heritage
Site.
10. z St. Alexandar Nevsky Catedral
St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is a
Bulgarian Orthodox cathedral in
Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Built in
Neo-Byzantine style, it serves as the
cathedral church of the Patriarch of
Bulgaria and it is one of the 50 largest
Christian church buildings by volume
in the world.

Prohodna cave
Prohodna is a karst cave in north central
Bulgaria, located in the Iskar Gorge near
the village of Karlukovo in Lukovit
Municipality, Lovech Province. The
cave is known for the two eye-like holes
in its ceiling, known as God's eyes.
Formed during the Quaternary,
Prohodna is 262 metres long, which
makes it the longest cave passage in
Bulgaria.

Bay Bolata
Bolata is a small cove and Nature reserve
located in the Northern Bulgarian Black
Sea Coast.Bolata is a locality located in the
bay of the same name and is part of the
Kaliakra Reserve. In the area of Bolata was
also found a Maltese cross which testify to
the foreign trade relation of the Second
Bulgarian Empire with the Republic of
Venice and Genoa.

The Ahtopol Lighthouse
The lighthouse became operational in
July 1932. It is one of the most
beautiful lighthouses on our coast.It
rises in front of the entrance to the port
of Ahtopol. It is built on a reef, which
makes it particularly picturesque, but
also particularly dangerous for
maintenance due to difficult access.
14. z Nesebar
Nesebar is an ancient city and one of the
major seaside resorts on the Bulgarian
Black Sea Coast, located in Burgas
Province. It is the administrative centre of
the homonymous Nesebar Municipality.
Often referred to as the "Pearl of the Black
Sea", Nesebar is a rich city-museum
defined by more than three millennia of
ever-changing history.

Dupnitsa
And now, before the end of the
presentation, we will briefly introduce you
to our wonderful city!
Dupnitsa, or Dupnica, is a town
in Western Bulgaria. It is at the
foot of the highest mountains in
the Balkan Peninsula – the Rila
Mountains, and about 50 km
south of the capital Sofia.
Dupnitsa is the second largest
town in Kyustendil Province.
