  • Those respondents who use RefWorks generally find it to be useful But so many students (3/4 of student population) are not using the service?  Is it because they have tried it and are unhappy?   Or are they just unaware of it?
  • The students had the opportunity to write-in responses to the last question that asked their experience with citation management software and library-hosted APA workshops Only 5 of the 39 students surveyed responded   Mostly positive   Suggestions for improvements
  • Though our survey was not without its flaws, it did give us some insights as to why students are using citation management software.  The key services used are   Consider a switch Key features citation collection bibliographic creation  Cost    Educate Students   Advantages of Service publicity instruction   Limitations of Service

      • RefWorks is expensive.
        • Can RefWorks be replaced with a less expensive alternative?
        • What features are students using?
        • How useful do students feel the software is and what do they think about it's accuracy?
        • Are students using RefWorks as a crutch?
      • To find these answers a survey was constructed

      • Total of 12 questions including 3 APA evaluation questions
      • Small sample size of 39

  • 8. Student Satisfaction
      • 71% of RefWorks users find it very useful or useful
  • 9. Citation Errors
      • Questions 9, 10, and 11 tested respondents ability to correctly identify problems in citations formatted in APA.
        • 12.8% (5 of 39) correctly answered all three questions.
        • 15.4% (6 of 39) were unable to answer any questions correctly.
      • Overall Trend shows that those who understand APA mechanics are less satisfied with RefWorks
