In 2005, Teekay was awarded a contract for upgrading, delivery
and operation of the 1991 built Suezmax shuttle tanker Navion
Saga to serve as FSO on the Volve Field in the North Sea, in
accordance with Norwegian offshore regulations and Statoil’s
specific requirements. The conversion of the shuttle tanker was
successfully executed by Teekay with Grenland Group and OSM
Ship Management as key subcontractors.

The Project
Volve is an oil field located in the southern part of the North
Sea, 200 km west of Stavanger. The sea depth is about 80
metres. The field was developed by the production jack-up
rig Maersk Inspirer and the FSO Navion Saga which is owned
and operated by Teekay.The oil offtake is done by shuttle
tankers operated by Teekay.
