is this a Biblical mission??
4. authorial intent
• Timothy’s ‘leadership target’ for the
Ephesian church was “blameless”.
• The church and its leadership has the
responsibility of developing its people.
– Both men and women! No person left behind
– In their God-given roles, according to Biblical
standards, and without compromise
5. complementarian view
• Men and Women are EQUAL in imaging God
(Gen 1:27), sinning (Rom 6:23), salvation (Gal 3:28),
giftedness and value to the Body (Tit 2:3-4; 1 Cor
12:7), worship ability (1 Cor 11:5, 11-12) and honor
(Eph 5:21; 1 Tim 5:1-2).
• Men and Women are UNEQUAL in roles or
authority (1 Cor 11:3, 7-9; Eph 5:22-33; Gen 2:18).
– Men are the leaders, providing direction
– Women are the helpers, providing support

ways that distract
from godly worship

• “Sobriety” is a combination of free will
and grace

Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23)

to what he says

continuing disruptive, divisive arguments
– Affirm the preaching of truth
12. submissive
• “Subjection” is an obedience that
recognizes and respects authority, roles

leadership of the ones given that role

follow is deliberate; choose to submit
