Work Study In Construction Essay
1.1 General
Construction labour productivity has become big problem in construction industry. In many
countries, labour cost comprises 30 to 50% of the overall project s cost (Yates and Guhathakurta,
1993), and thus is regarded as a true reflection of the economic success. Because construction is
labour intensive industry, significance of this effect not only justifies the concern over its labour
productivity, but it can also be argued that labour power is the only productive resource.
There are many challenges that are faced by construction industry in India, but one of the important
challenges is labour productivity in construction. Every project has some difficulty in construction

Comparision Of Hamlet With Rosencrantz And Guildenstern...
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (R and G...) by Tom Stoppard is a transformation of
Shakespeare s Hamlet that has been greatly influenced due to an external contextual shift. The
sixteenth century Elizabethan historical and social context, accentuating a time of questioning had
specific values which are transformed and altered in Stoppard s Existential, post two world wars
twentieth century historical and social context. The processes of transformation that are evident
allow the shifts in ideas, values and external contexts to be clearly depicted. This demonstrates the
significance of the transformation allowing new interpretations and ideas about reality as opposed

Claudius character demonstrates the theme of appearance or reality in Act One, through adopting
an act as though he is grieving the loss of his brother. This is demonstrated in the line, and that it
us befitted/to bear our hearts in grief, and our whole kingdom/ to be contracted in one brow of woe .
However, his tone of sorrow is really an appearance, as it was Claudius himself who murdered
Hamlet Senior. This is proven in Claudius soliloquy, the second climax to the play when he is
praying. O, my offence is rank; it smells to heaven...a brother s murder . His tone is filled with
guilt and it is here the value of truth is displayed. Elizabethan s would have seen Claudius deception
and value the truthfulness of this climactic soliloquy, in a social context that recognised sin and
believed in God s punishment and reward.
This is juxtaposed by Stoppard in R and G... through using the Player to proclaim that everyone is
acting. When Guildenstern asks the Player aren t you going to change into your costume? the
Player replies I never change out of it, sir . This concept symbolises how life is a continual
pretence and we all play act the life roles that are predetermined.
Hamlet also uses the players to determine the reality of the ghost reflecting how he is questioning
reality in general. This can be linked with Guildenstern s [Guil] speech in R and G ... about the
unicorn and Guil, along with Hamlet,

False Memory In Elizabeth Loftus
Forgetting Paper

Forgetting Paper
Elizabeth Loftus is a cognitive psychologist who studies memory. More specifically she studies
false memories and how memories can be changed by things we are told. Facts, ideas, suggestions
and other post event information can modify our memories. In the video, Loftus opens with a story
about a man named Steve Titus. He was a convicted of a crime he didn t commit. The victim that
identified him first told the police that Steve Titus s picture looked closest to the perpetrator. Later,
during the trial the same person identified him with absolute certainty. How is this possible? False
memories.
The video goes on to explain that Steve Titus s case is not the only case where someone was
convicted because of false memories. In the United States, there have been about 300 cases where
innocent people have been convicted of crimes they didn t commit. Of those cases about 225 are

The book states, your memory is only as good as your last memory. The fewer times you use it, the
more unchanged it is (Myers Dewall, 2014). This means that to some degree all memory is false.
When continuously exposed to misinformation it is called the misinformation effect. The
misinformation effect is when a memory has been corrupted by misleading information (Myers
Dewall, 2014). When exposed to misleading information, we tend to misremember. Hearing a vivid
retelling of a story or event could implant false memories. Misinformation and source amnesia
happen without our awareness. Because of this it is hard for people to scrutinize false memories
from the real memories. For example, as adults some often tell stories of their childhoods. They
might not actually remember everything that happed so they fill in the blanks. By filling in these
blanks the more they tell the story the more the filled in parts become false

Analysis of Marks Gospel Essay
This research assignment aims to analyse and interpret an influential part of the New Testament
Mark s Gospel. An analysis of Mark and his community will be discussed as well as interpreting
Jesus teachings and his significant theme of Discipleship as it was then and in present society.
A Gospel in general, is a textual document written in narrative form of the good news and teachings
proclaimed by Jesus to announce the power of God. Mark s Gospel is one of four others (Matthew,
Luke and John), where each Gospel has its differences in structure, language and theological slants.
Mark s Gospel is divided into three main sections: The Ministry of Jesus, Jesus prologue of
foretelling his Passion, and his Passion and Death. Mark set out ... Show more content on

Although the Roman society questioned Monotheism, the strength of Mark s community to Jesus
had overthrown their past beliefs, whereby their loyalties had met with the many hardships and
dangers of Roman hierarchy just as Jesus followers did.
The concept of seeing the ways of Jesus and that He is the Messiah, is to truly understand the
message being portrayed throughout the Gospel, and not the surface meaning that is being
represented literally. This concept was very significant to Jesus and his followers as to interpret
the meaning without being said, most parables being related to the Kingdom of God and Jesus
miracle stories. Times were harsh and difficult to spread and teach the words of Jesus, as Mark s
community would face persecution. The disciples of Jesus could see more than other believers
could perceive, from being apart of Jesus life with close relationships, as they were taught the
fundamentals from Jesus himself to understand his teachings in much more depth and fluency
than others. There were many similarities among Jesus twelve disciples and Mark s community,
as both groups share the strong faith in Jesus and God s power by spreading the good news to
others as well as experiencing hardships caused by arrogant hierarchy and society. According to
Mark, Jesus was known for his parables and

Summary And Background Of Stryker Corporation
Summary and Background Currently, Stryker Corporation is in a law suit centered on patent
infringement with their competitor, Zimmer Corporation. The case which will be analyzed and
explored is currently pending hearing by the Supreme Court. The current questions that the
petitioners, Stryker, are asking of the Supreme Court are as follows: 1. Has the Federal Circuit
improperly abrogated the plain meaning of 35 U.S.C. В§ 284 by forbidding any award of
enhanced damages unless there is a finding of willfulness under a rigid, two part test, when this
Court recently rejected an analogous framework imposed on 35 U.S.C. В§ 285, the statute
providing for attorneys fee awards in exceptional cases? 2. Does a district court have discretion
under 35 U.S.C. В§ 284 to award enhanced damages where an infringer intentionally copied a
direct competitor s patented invention, knew the invention was covered by multiple patents, and
made no attempt to avoid infringing the patents on that invention? (SCOTUS Blog, 2015) Stryker
is petitioning the Supreme Court to explore these questions, because prior to Supreme Court
filing, there had been a series of lawsuits and appeals between the plaintiff, Stryker, and
defendants, Zimmer. The preliminary suit was focused on infringement of pulse lavage medical
devices. Stryker and Zimmer are the two main developers and manufacturers of this medical
device noted in the suit. Medical pulse lavage systems are complicated devices which are used by a

Barbie is a doll manufactured by Mattel and was launched in March 1959. An American lady named
Ruth Handler is given credit for this creation alongside a German doll called Bild Lilli, which was
her inspiration. Barbie has been an important part of the toy fashion doll market for over fifty years
and has been the subject of many controversies.

While she was there, she came across a doll called Bild Lilli. This was exactly what Ruth wanted
so she bought three of them. She gave one to her daughter and took the rest back to Mattel. The Lilli
doll was first sold in Germany in 1955, and although it was initially sold to adults, it soon became
popular with children who enjoyed dressing her up.
When, Handler returned to the United States, she remodelled the design of the Lilli doll and the
doll was named Barbie, after her daughter, Barbara. This new doll made its debut at the American
International Toy Fair in New York on March the 9th, 1959. This date is also used as Barbie s
official birthday.
Mattel needed the rights of the Bild Lilli doll and in 1964 the production of Bild Lilli dolls was
stopped. The first Barbie doll was wearing a black and white striped swimsuit with a topknot
ponytail and was available in either blonde or brunette. The doll was marketed as a Teen age

This article is about allowing the black market of organs to be legalized and regulated, and
discusses how allowing people to sell their organs actually benefit people in medical need of an
organ; essentially patients on the transplantation waiting list (Pietrobon, 2016). The author dissects
the controversial method of regulationand provides evidence to support their argument. In addition,
the author addressed the opposing side, which are against regulation of the market because it is

Family Relationships In Frankenstein
To many people, family means love, communication, sharing, caring, understanding and being
considerate of the emotions of others. Family values are hugely and deservingly extolled.
Therefore, functional families are the micro units of a society. In my opinion, lack of emotional
support among family members can be attributed to formal familyrelationships that may be in
existent in some of our families. It is worth noting that emotional bonding is an essential ingredient
to effective family nourishment.
Healthy family relationships act as pillars for interactions with people outside the household.
Families have a way of instilling people s attitude, characters and the general perception towards
life. Such are characters that are developed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The absence of such relationships may result to people having distorted human nature and eventual
emotional wreck. From the novel, Frankenstein is raised in a wealthy family with two brothers,
William and Ernest and their adopted sister, Elizabeth. The death of his mother destabilizes the
family unit as Frank leaves to peruse his knowledge. Family value is further entrenched when the
monster implores on Frankenstein to give it a companion. Victor tries to keep close tab with his
family owed to the affection they have developed even though he later ignores this responsibility it
is an affirmation that he values the family fabric (Marklund, 2010).
The relationship between Elizabeth and Victor Frankenstein dates back to the time when
Frankenstein s family adopted her upon her mother s demise, Caroline, Victor s mother discovers
Elizabeth during her trip on poor Italy family and decides to adopt the beautiful young Elizabeth.
Victor and Elizabeth grow together as best friends during his time with the family, their childhood

Howl, By Allen Ginsberg
Howl for Somebody I Never Met in a Place I Never Heard of about a Cause we Already Won
Howl, by Allen Ginsberg, is an inaccessible writing with such obscure references from a unique
personal life and small subculture from 50 years ago that it cannot stand on its own today. It tackles
issues society has already decided, makes them completely unrelatable, and attempts to shock
readers. Except to literary historians, this poem is irrelevant to modern society because of constant
references to obscure places and people, frequent vulgarity to which internet based society has been
desensitized, and societal issues that already have national level attention.

However, no readers outside this tight knit group of poets would ever know Ginsberg was
referring to real events, except in the one line where he almost parenthetically states, that
actually happened, which serves as a point of contrast by which a reader may presume none of
the other events actually happened. Carl Solomon features heavily in part three, but a first time
reader has no idea who he is, why he is, or even when he was. The best an uninformed reader can
say is that he is in Rockland, and that it might not be a nice place; the severity of said not nicity
might range from the local government confining residents in straightjackets to simply having an
unusually high population of mosquitoes during a rainy season. Even when making a reference
that people outside his circle of friends would know, Ginsberg chooses Tokay, a wine, which to
some readers, is nothing more than a species of gecko that lives on some South West Pacific
islands. Interestingly enough, soldiers fighting wars across these islands called the Tokay Gecko
the F you lizard for its call, which to some sounded like tokay, but sounded like F you to the
soldiers. Other places Ginsberg references that will mean nothing to farmers in Iowa or Wall Street
investors include: Paterson, Paradise Alley, Fugazzi, and Bowery.
At times, Howl gets somewhat explicit, mentioning gyzym, cocksuckers, anal sex, and granite
cocks. Thematic referencing aside, nothing

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Night By Dylan Thomas
In 1957 Dylan Thomas published a poem called Do Not Go Gentle into That Night. While reading
the poem towards the end you find out that this poem was not only about the inevitable death that
one faces at the end of life, but also that this poem was for his dying father. In this poem Thomas
uses a form of poetrycalled villanelleto intertwine many themes, as well as, symbolism and
imagery to draw the reader into a sensory experience. Villanelle is a very structured form of
poetry that was originated in the french language before it was introduced to the english
language. It consists of nineteen lines of poetry and it is divided into six stanzas, it is composed
of five three lined stanzas and one four lined stanza. Villanelles also have a very specific rhyme
pattern The first and third lines of the first tercet rhyme with each other, and this rhyme is
repeated through each of the next four tercets and in the last two lines of the concluding
quatrain, this could also be called a refrain (Glossary A13). Dylan follows the scheme very well
using the rhyme aba aba aba aba aba abaa. While Dylan follows the poetry form to a T he also is
able to incorporate many themes into his poem. One of which, being a very obvious one already
stated, mortality. Even though deathis inevitable, Dylan suggest that people should fight against the
odds to redeem themselves, Rage, rage against the dying of the light (Thomas 3). He uses the dying
of the light to describe the sunset which is

Coppola s Adaptation of Bram Stoker s Dracula
The legendary creature Dracula has mesmerized readers and viewers for nearly a century. In
Bram Stoker s masterpiece, Dracula, the infamous monster affects each reader in a different way.
Some find the greatest fear to be the sacrilegious nature of his bloodsucking attacks, while others
find themselves most afraid of Dracula s shadow like omnipresent nature. The fascination with
Dracula has assimilated into all parts of society. Dracula can now be seen selling breakfast cereals,
making appearances on Sesame Street, and on the silver screen. Countless film adaptations of Stoker

Coppola focuses too much upon the personal struggles of Dracula himself and the audience feels a
great deal of pity towards Dracula. The genius of Stoker was that his Dracula caused readers to feel
both sympathy and at the same time hatred towards the monster. James Craig Holte illustrates this
point when he says:
As Stoker recognized, classic horror is close to tragedy, and in a work of classic horror, there are
elements of pity and fear, pity for the vampire s situation but fear of his menace. Careful readers
of Dracula are at the same time sympathetic to and repelled by Dracula. Coppola, despite the best
of intentions, creates a work in which there is far more pity than fear; the sympathy finally
overwhelms the repulsion. (Holte 85)
The foundation of Coppola s film is based upon the love between Dracula and Elizobeta, and
later upon the love between Dracula and Mina. His beloved Elizobeta commits suicide in his
castle upon erroneously hearing of his death. Dracula was fighting Muslim invaders for the benefit
of Christianity, and upon his return home he is devastated by the death of his beloved wife. Due
to the fact that Elizobeta committed suicide, the head priest denies her burial in consecrated
ground. This angers Dracula a great deal and causes him to renounce God in the face of the priest.

The Debate About Hierarchy And Equality Within Marriage
The debate about hierarchy and equality within marriage is a topic that has reverberated through
the centuries as theologians, societies, and couples try to flesh out the roles of man and woman in
marriage. Various hermeneutical lenses and theologians have looked at Scripture to create different
assertions about who holds the authority and if there is a disparity in spousal equality. Within John
Paul II s Theology of Body the hermeneutic he employs to read Scripture, especially Genesis and
Ephesians, which announces spousal equality. Through this paper, it will be argued that John Paul
II believes there is an equality of authority within marriagebecause marriage is reciprocal and
communitarian with the basis of Christian pietas (ToB, 89:1).
In John Paul II s Wednesday General Audience on August 11, 1982 (#89) he enumerated the
reciprocal nature of marriage in which he established equal authority within this union. Ephesians
51 33 was the basis for his view because this passage details how spousal equality is based on the
call for each spouse to be subject to one another in the fear of Christ (Eph. 5:21). The use of this
passage, which is usually associated with subordination, shows the reciprocal and the communal
nature of the sacrament based on pietas. Pietas refer to the duty of Christians to respond to the
command to fear the Lord and spring from the profound consciousness of the mystery of Christ
(ToB, 89:1). John Paul II s inclusion of pietas aids in establishing

Some of these are the study of stratification through the analysis of color variations, and
components of the ground. Moreover, historical and archival researches were detrimental to the
process of data recollection. Other techniques included the recording of human remains before and
after the excavations by taking photographs in situ (Congram, Flavel and Maeyama 2014). Features
and other non organic remains were equally analyzed and recorded for further analysis. Other useful
techniques included geographical information based on the location and position of the graves, as
well as drawing scales of the corpses positions in them (Congram, Flavel and Maeyama 2014).
Furthermore, anthropological analysis was paramount. Through anthropological studies conducted
in the lab, as well as at the field, forensic anthropologists and archeologists were able to recreate a
complete compilation of oral histories based on municipal records and official documents. Also,
testimonies of the victims family members, and interviews with former prisoners gave a profound
insight that advanced the investigation. Other methods worth mentioning were DNA analysis, but
due to its limitations and time constraints, DNA analysis was not conducted on every exhumed
body. This research method was carried out at the expense of family members with economic means
who set up to identify their dead relatives; it was not sufficiently plausible during the investigation
as a result of time constraints. Significant qualitative and quantitative data were collected during
this investigation, and these became extremely relevant to determine causes of death of the corpses
found in mass burial grounds. All the data collected and the methods used during the research,

The Weary Blues Poem Explication Langston Hughes, a black poet, proved one of the most
influential poets of the Harlem Renaissance, a flowering of African American literature, art, and
culture during the 1920s and 1930s. In particular, writers of the Renaissance focused heavily on
issues of black identity and struggles faced by African Americans, both economically and socially,
as they struggled with the legacy of the Civil War and omnipresent discrimination. Hughes was no
exception, and his body of work explored the issue of the black experience. His poem The Weary
Blues falls squarely within this literary theme; in it, the black musician portrayed represents the
struggles faced by black Americans, and Hughes clearly communicates that... Show more content on

He notes that the scene of the poem occurs at night, by the pale dull pallor of an old gas light (5).
It is most likely dark outside, and one can t see very well due to the lack of modern, up to date
streetlights, communicating the run down nature of the neighborhood and creating a gloomy
mood due to the lack of light on the street. The very fact that the musician is playing out on the
street indicates that he is most likely down on his luck. Next, Hughes repeats the line, He did a
lazy sway... /He did a lazy sway... (6 7). This repetition, and the drawn out ellipses after the lines
themselves, emphasizes the fact that the night is slow and without energy. Hughes continues on,
emphasizing the blackness of the musician by juxtaposing the musician s skin color with the keys
of the piano, noting the movement of his ebony hands on each ivory key (9). Although the setting
of the poem and the content of the blues song would normally create a downbeat mood, this
expectation contrasts with the speaker s frequent apostrophes to the blues, such as O Blues! (11)
and Sweet Blues! (14), which make it clear that the speaker is overcome with admiration and is
struck by the nature of the song, emphasizing the contrasting nature of blues songs in general.
Despite this contrast, however, the mood and setting created in the first stanza set the scene for the
musician s revelation in the second stanza. The musician s song relies on colloquial diction, using
black vernacular language, exemplified when he sings Ain t got nobody but myself./I s gwine to
quit ma frownin (20 21), further emphasizing the musician s

The Causes And Treatment Of Dialysis
DIALYSIS
Being one of the eight leading causes of death in the United States, kidney disease is very life
threatening. Many people carry on day to day routines with no knowledge of the signs to be
aware of when developing kidney failure. The two main causes of kidney failure are high blood
pressure and diabetes. For people with kidney failure, options for treatment become dialysis or to
receive a kidney transplant. Since the process for a kidney transplant could take years, many
people choose to receive dialysis treatment. The process of dialysis serves as a substitute for the
kidneys and clinically flushes the blood of any impurities.
The process of dialysis evolved in the twentieth century. After watching a man die due to kidney
failure, Dr. Willem Kolff (father of dialysis) discovered the first artificial kidney. In 1943, Dr.
Kolff s mission to invent the first artificial kidney was a success. During the era, of World War
II, the artificial dialyzers helped save many soldier s lives. Because of this great invention, many
kidney patients were able to live longer which gave them a greater chance of survival. Because
dialysis changed the life expectancy of the patients, many were able to receive transplants. The
first kidney transplant was performed in the early 1950 s. Since this invention was created, many
technological improvements have come along which is making it possible for the people effected
by kidney disease to live long, meaningful lives.

Papers On Leonardo Da Vinci
Leonardo Da Vinci
Leonardo da vinci was born on April 15th the year of 1452, he was born in vinci, italy. In a
farmhouse beside the undulating hill of Tuscany outside the village of Anchiano in present day
Italy. He was the illegitimate son of ser piero da vinci and a local woman caterina. Some
documents showed that he lived with his mother until he was five then he moved in with his father
in the beginning of 1457. His father married four times, although his first three marriages were not
quite successful.
One of Leonardo s famous quotes is: Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is
painting that is felt rather than seen. When he was around the age of fourteen he began a lengthy
apprenticeship with the noted artist Andrea Del Verrocchio in florence. He learned a wide breadth
of technical skills including metalworking, leather arts, carpentry, drawing, painting and sculpting.
His earliest known dated work was a pen and ink drawing of a landscape in the Arno valley it was

Radical Communism Vs Radical Feminism
Marxist Feminism is focused on explaining the ways women are oppressed through the systems
of capitalism and private affairs. A Marxist feminist would say that equality can only be reached
through a radical reconstruction of the capitalist economy where most of women s labor is not
compensated. In regards to the wage gap, a Marxists feminist believes that there are two kinds
of labor, one is a productive labor that results in getting paid in money. The second is
reproductive which is not involved with the capitalist system, but it s more private affairs that
involves working to live for oneself. Cleaning, cooking, having children and simple errands are all
things that fall into the private, reproductive sphere of labor. It s said that women are basically
assigned to the reproductive labor and are expected to fall into the reproductive unpaid labor
instead of productive paid labor. Marxists Feminists argue that this is the root of unequal... Show

Marxist feminism believes that the only way to fix the wage gap would be to completely
reconstruct the capitalist system where radical feminism believes that the wage gap could only be
fixed if the patriarchy was completely destroyed. One key difference between Marxist feminism
and radical feminism is that Marxist feminism focuses more on material wealth rather than social
wealth. Radical feminism is more about social status rather than production status. A liberal
feminist has the viewpoint that each individual women must take action to gain her rights.
Therefore, their view on the wage gap differs as they don t believe in a reconstruction of an entire
system and they don t fall into the same radical beliefs as radical feminists. However, all three of
these feminist viewpoints all want the same thing, equal pay and equality in general. They all have
differing and contrasting opinions on how to reach that point, but ultimately they have the good of

An example of one of these conversations or interactions is in the first chapter and in the second
part. George unslung his bindle and dropped it gently on the bank.

Glorifying the Age of Reason
THE AGE OF REASON The age of reason is a period in time in which the idea of reasoning
things out was glorified. This period is also known as The Enlightenment , it started around the
mid 1600 s and ended at around the end of the 1700 s. Never before had questioning things and
acquiring solutions for ourselves as individuals been so popular. This age resulted in major
advancements in mathematics, science, even in political views and other subjects. This period is a
concoction of different minds that contributed towards the creation of various new ideas, some
which were radical for its time. There are two guys that are considered to be the fathers of The
Enlightenment, they were Francis Bacon and Rene Descartes. Francis Bacon believed that he could
free the ignorant mindof plebs with science, and with science they would be able to become more
productive and also live better lives. But to discard of ignorance that was so widespread at his
time is not easy, so he had to come up with a way for people to figure things out. These two really
set up the method for everyone else to figure things out and this method is known as the Scientific
Method. Isaac Newton, another great thinker/mathematician/physicist of The Enlightenment took
the ideas of Francis Bacon and Rene Descartes and took them beyond imagination. He created a
branch of math called calculus and also the laws of gravity and the laws of motion. Other subjects
prospered around this time as well such as chemistry and

I believe it is possible to be in a Christian community where the believers in it come from one or a

understanding of the various views on the authority of scripture. After doing further research
and writing this paper I have a deeper understanding of the authority and nature of scripture. I
know the word of God is not just based on the inspiration of God, but that it is God breathed and
infallible. Having knowledge of that fact can help me when sharing scripture and what I have
learned with the people out in the world. It is also important for us to not hold scripture above
God, but instead use it to lead people to God through the scriptures. Reading about
evangelicalism reminds me that we as children of God have a duty to be missionaries in our
communities to help evangelize the world. God is counting on us to help grow his garden of
souls. God is counting on us to plant the seed in someone who does not know or believe. With the
help of God through the Holy Spirit the sharing of His Word should come easily and we must

The Blue Planet: Seasonal Seas
Like how seasons are the changes on land, they can also be apply to oceans in temperate

temperate parts of the world where conditions change throughout the year. The power of the sun is

Epiphary In Katherine Mansfield s The Garden Party
There are many reasons behind an author s story. Mainly it is to portray a message, give a good
laugh, or explain a purpose, but the author will get their point across to their readers. In Katherine
Mansfield s, The Garden Party, she focuses on a young, upperclass girl, with the name of Laura
Sheridan. During the story, the Sheridan family is preparing to host a very lively garden party.
Unfortunately for the circumstance, there has been a death in their community. The Scott family,
who is of the middle class, had just lost their husband and their father. The wake for Mr. Scott
just so happens to be during the time of the garden party. The separation of classes causes an
unsettling act of sympathy from Laura. She can not decide whether to be on the right side or the
wrong side of the situation. The death of Mr. Scott allows Laura Sheridan to experience an
epiphany, as she encounters the difference s between the upper and middle classes, life and death,
and a new perspective of life. Many people are often judged by their appearances, living
arrangements, or income status. That is how the world views and classifies people to place them in
a hierarchical stature.
There were a few middle class workers hired to set up a marquee at the Sheridan house. Since
Laura was considered to be the artistic one (EastoftheWeb 2) of her siblings, she was chosen to

which the concentration of the anions is different from one type to other. The anions that present
in the water samples include Cl , F , Br , NO32 and SO42 ; however, no PO43 anion was present in

First thing to discuss is the concentration of all desired anions in deionized water which was

Factors That Play Into Choosing What Type Of Childcare...
There are several factors that play into choosing what type of childcare facility to open. Some
questions to ask are how many children do I wish to have? How about the age range for the
children in the center? The operating hours as well as operational days will determine what type
of childcare you will have to start. A child care center extends child care services, covering early
learning openings, for a set tuition in a center based setting. Child care centers are typically

There are several teachers that are available to the child and can help support each other. Licensing
requirements are done by state agencies, and usually safer. Training of teachers is regulated and
is held to a higher standard regarding health and safety. Center based child cares are inspected
yearly. All centers have a set curriculum and therefore more options to teach and learn. Center
based child care is dependable because you know the hours and days of operation will not change.
Now we will talk about the disadvantages of a center based child care. There are more children
to take care of since there will be larger groups. Having too many different caregivers or teachers
may confuse the child and steer away from consistency. Center based tuition can be more
expensive, especially when there are more than one child in the family. The businesses operating
hours may be outside the normal parenting work hours which leave no flexibility for drop off and
pick up. Also, if a child was to become sick, they would not be allowed to stay the remainder of the
day, and cannot return based on their symptoms until they are well again. Another type of childcare
is a family home based child care. This is when one teacher is caring for children in smaller groups.

The Shah of Bratpur in Player s Piano
One literary technique that authors often employ is to use a character who is a visitor to provide
insight into a society s culture. In Kurt Vonnegut s novel Player Piano, the author employs the
Shah of Bratpuhr in such a manner. Instead of seeing a society that is better because of its reliance
on machines, the Shah instead observes that the people of Ilium have become slaves to their
machines instead. Instead of observing a society that worships a religious God and looks to him for
inspiration and guidance, the Shah sees that Proteus world instead ridiculously worships and obeys

Having the distance of a visitor instead of one already immersed in the brainwashing in Ilium,
the Shah is thus able to provide insight into the ridiculousness of a society that relies on a
machine instead of humans for its knowledge and guidance. The Shah is also able to cut through
the façade presented in Ilium about the powers of the President, as a spiritual leader or
otherwise, providing insight into who or what truly holds the power in Paul Proteus world. To
underscore the significance of the Shah s insights as an outsider to Ilium, Vonnegut even has
the announcer at the ceremony say Perhaps the Shah will give us the fresh impressions of a
visitor from another part of the world, come from another way of life (120). And so the Shah
does, in ever a dramatic way, when he turns his back on the President and drops to his knees to
perform some sort of worship ritual at the foot of EPICAC, as he asks a riddle which in his
culture will identify the arrival of an all wise god (122). When he gets no response from the
machine, the Shah then likens it to Baku, or a false god. In doing so, the Shah once again
underscores how ludicrous it is for the society of Ilium to essentially worship a machine. Not only
do the people of Illium worship the machines, they also compete with the machines. Part of the
Shah s journey is to Cornell University, where he experiences more

Numbers In Norse Mythology
Numbers have had a fascinating presence throughout history. There is evidence of the use of
numbers dating back at least twenty thousand years, such as the discovery of the Ishango bone.
The Chinese, Mayans, Romans, Babylonians, and Greeks all had numbering systems. They were
all unique and they have all played a role in the use of Numbers in their everyday lives. Numbers
have also played a significant role in magic and divination. The I Ching system from the Chinese,
the tarot, and numerology are all some very popular forms. A Greek philosopher named
Pythagoras is credited for modern day numerology. Arithmancy is another form of divination based
on assigning numbers to a word or phrase. This can be seen in the Hebrew Kabbalah.

Hiroshima And The Atomic Bomb
On August 6th, 1945, the United States of America dropped the atomic bomb in Hiroshima,
Japan. This bomb decimated over two hundred thousand Japanese citizens, and caused the
Empire of Japan to surrender ending World War II. In his book Hiroshima, John Heresy reveals
the stories of six survivors, and how their lives were changed following the bombing. As you
might expect, the time succeeding the attack was rather hectic. Even more so for physicians and
nurses, as thousands of people were rushing towards them for medical assistance. Two
physicians, Dr. Masakazu Fujii, and Dr. Terufumi Sasaki, have survived to tell their stories. Dr.
Fujii ran a hospital that overlooked a river. When the bomb exploded, Dr. Fujii was blown off
his feet and landed in the water along with the remnants of his hospital. Dr. Sasaki was much
luckier than Dr. Fujii, because he remained uninjured and immediately started caring for those
close to him. At the time the bomb exploded, Reverend Mr. Kiyoshi Tanimoto is helping a friend

The Mysterious Death of Edgar Allen Poe Essay
Poe s Unsolved Mystery
On September 28, 1849, Edgar Allan Poe arrived in Baltimore, Maryland to take a train to
Philadelphia. What was supposed to be a brief stop over turned into an eternity. What caused the
death of the father of the detective story ? The possible scenarios surrounding the events that lead
up to his death are the cause of many magazine articles, books, and even recent medical studies.
Although no one really knows what happened to Edgar Alan Poe, there are over twenty different
theories about what might have happened to him. I will discuss the four major theories of what

They rekindled this old flame and before long the two were planning to be married. The one
condition set by Elmira was that Poe could not drink any alcohol. He readily agreed to her
conditions and even joined the Richmond temperance society, to prove his dedication to staying
sober. The two set the date of the wedding for October 17th to give Poe time to go Philadelphia
to conduct some business and then to New York to pick up his mother in law so she could
attend the ceremony. He left Elmira s house on the night before his journey and promised to
write her as soon as he reached New York. That was the last time she saw him. On September 27,
Poe left Richmond, VA by boat to go to Baltimore where he would take a train to complete his
journey. This is where the mystery begins. No one knows what happened to Poe from September
27 to October 3rd, the day he was found semiconscious and dressed in some else s clothing outside
Gunner s Hall in Baltimore. After alerting his friend, Dr. Snodgrass, of his illness, Poe was rushed
to Washing College Hospital where, according to his attending doctor, Dr. Moran, he had:
Tremor of the limbs, and at first a busy, but not violent or active delirium constant talking and
vacant converse with spectral and imaginary objects on the walls. His face was pale and his whole
person drenched in perspiration (Walsh 41).

Tidal Restoration
Estuarine environments are one of the most productive ecosystems on earth. Not only do they
provide measureable environmental benefits, but social and economic benefits. Salt marshes
provide habitat and serve as food resources for various wildlife such as shellfish, fish, and birds.
They also act as nurseries for commercially and recreationally important shell and fin fisheries.
Nearby land and waterbodies are protected from flooding, storm surges, shoreline stabilization,
nutrient absorption, and water quality improvement. Wetlands and marshes not only provide the
environmental aspects just mentioned, they also serve as an educational and recreational
opportunity for the community. For healthy survival, salt marshplant species require proper tidal
fluctuation.
Over past of years, many salt marsh habitats have been lost to filling, diking, or draining. New
England has lost an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though reversing massive environmental damage may abide as impossible, over long term
periods, reversal of tidal restriction and restoration of the ecosystem is plausible. The main
objectives for proper tidal flow restoration are to eliminate invasive plants growing in the area,
restore proper soil, oxygen, and water levels and quality, mosquito control, reduce all blockages to
return proper flow, and restore the native population of organisms. Specific materials such as
installing modified tide gates or bidirectional flow tide gates, such as self regulating tide gates
(SRT) if needed, rather than conventional tide gates, can improve drainage conditions, increase
saline tidal flow, help control Phragmites, decrease fire hazards and mosquito breeding, restore
normal saltmarsh biotic conditions, and protect adjacent development from flooding (Reiner 2011).
Proper restoration should allow a habitat to act as the productive salt marsh it once

Analysis Of mericans By Sandra Cisneros
ВґMericans by Sandra Cisneros was a very straight forward literary work. The reader gets a
strong sense of the setting in the first few lines of the story when Cisneros begins to use Spanish
words and phrases. Just by reading the Spanish words, images, smells, and feelings come to a
readers mind. For example, when I read Spanish words I think of warmth, cinnamon, and chili
peppers. Also, based on the title of the text and the first few sentances I deduced that the story
would be about an Americanized Mexican family, and therefore began to think of the conflicts
that could result within this family. This made me curious and drew me into the text. In the first
paragraph of the story, a classic church scene is described establishing the location of the setting.
As the story continues, readers get the impression that the family does not have very much money
because of the way the different characters are described and because the narrator says, We can
not spend our allowance on fried cookies or Familia Burron comic books or those clear cone
shaped suckers. These are all items that do not cost much money and therefore, readers assume that
the children receive a very small allowance. Readers get an even stronger sense of the setting of the
inside of the church when the author states that the grandmother disappeared behind the heavy
leather outer curtain and the dusty velvet inner . Readers begin to understand that the narrator
views the church as a gloomy, old, stale place,

Organizational Performance Assessment a case of Bio Bhutan
Paper submitted to Prof. Dr. Chris Sadleir, University of Canberra, towards the partial fulfilment of
the course Organizational Performance G (7777).

Score:............... 1. INTRODUCTION
The concept of an organisation varies significantly among different authors. One of the interesting
views is that an organisation is a social arrangement for controlled performance of collective goals
(Buchanan and Hucynski 2013). An organisation includes individuals who strive to meet a common
goal. It consists of a hierarchal management structure whereby each individual is assigned with
specific responsibility. However, Hal G. Rainey (2009) defines an organisation as a group of people
who work together to pursue a goal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the price of lemongrass air spray has been Nu.100 since 2005. This is because the
price revision was not incorporated in their business strategy (Ugyen 2014, pers. comm., 20 May).
As stated by Kotler (1997), price should be commensurate with the offer s perceived value , Bio
Bhutan should take the advantage of the demand in the market, products perceived value and
increase the prices to maximize profits.
II. Difficult in meeting the market demand
As per the CEO of Bio Bhutan, sometimes they do not have enough the stock of their products to
dispatch to the international market, although there is demand. This, according to him is because
they first try to meet the demand of market in country and then go for international markets. This
issue could be solved by producing an adequate amount of products required and as per the market
demand (both in country and international).

What Are The Causes Of Population Growth And Economic...
1. The North had some farming and was full artisans, where mostly free men lived. With the
Protestant work ethnic encouraged hard work and individual economic enterprise. The English
countries of the North were altered in structure from the individualism supported there. Land in the
South was available for the farms and plantations there, many men in the South would own one
with at least 50 acres. But the demand for land from the growing amount of African slaves coming
to America rose quickly, and the need to expand past the Appalachian Mountians began to look
necessary. There might ve been a lot of land in America, but expansion was always needed for more
and bigger plantations. 2. Population growth and economic development are the two things that

In the seventeenth century Europeans accepted the hierarchy in human affairs, poverty, and the
rights of a monarchy. But in the South there wasn t much of a difference in social ranks, so not
many had power over everyone like in Europe. The colonists wanted to create a society where
the wealthy didn t dominate others in lower classes, a rough economic equality would be
established, and there would be social equality for all. But in reality the idea didn t happen, the
wealth became unevenly distributed and the middle class nearly vanished, leaving the extrememly
rich and the extremely poor. The richer were able to buy more slaves and purchase more land,
participate in trade. But the poor began to have a hard time afford needed things, like firewood and
food. In Europe social position, age, wealth, service to the community, and other things affected

Pyramids Research Paper
Pyramids A pyramid, by definition, is a type of ancient structure that is massive in scale and has
a square base with four sides that form a triangular shape. These pyramids were constructed
thousands of years ago and still stand strong. They were built by the ancient Egyptians, by
basically piling loads and loads of materials on top of each other in the shape of a pyramid. It
seems like a simple process but it was very time consuming and required a lot of analyzing to
make sure the pyramids turned out symmetrical. Since these pyramids are still in decent shape, it
shows how well they were built. The materials used to build these pyramids consisted of mostly
stone, wood, and copper. The egyptianswere very limited when it came to supplies. The... Show

These pharaohs were believed to live forever, even after death. The pyramids were supposed to
help them in be able to live in the afterlife. The dead pharaohs were mummified and then stored
in tombs inside the pyramids. Since the egyptians spent a great deal of time and effort into
making these pyramids, it shows how important the afterlife was to them. Building these
pyramids was a very important part of their life. Ziggurats, on the other hand, were not used to
store dead bodies, they was used for more religious and ceremonial purposes. Other pyramids, like
the Aztec stepped pyramid called the Templo Mayor, was used for rituals and was used to perform
sacrifices. These magnificent structures called pyramids, have had many purposes and importance
to many. Not only did they serve as tombs for important pharaohs, but they were a place for
religious practice, ceremony, and rituals. These structures hold great significance because they give
us an insight as to what the egyptians viewed as important in their lifetime. It gives us some history
on ancient egyptians and their abilities. The time and effort put into these structures show how

Race, Racial, And Race Relations
Every individual has a particular definition of race and a distinct view of race relations in America
today, because every individual s reality is different and therefore their perception is different as
well. With that in mind, it becomes clear that the best way to understand race relations better is to
understand what another person s thoughts are on the matter. This interview paper sheds light onto
another s understanding and thoughts regarding racerelations in America. I can not sate the true
identity of the interviewee in this paper, so for all intents and purposes his name will be George.
My interview with George was centered on how race has played a part in his life as a black man
and where he thought race relations are in our... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Around the same time, he began to notice other races and his classmates began to notice his race
and comment on it. He said how this memory resonates with him because it was the first time he
felt out of place because of something he couldn t control. George further explained the feeling
as knowing on some level that everything was created with someone that was not him in mind,
that society was not best fit for him to succeed. A second early childhood experience George
remembers well is having a sit down conversation with his family where they told him that some
people would discriminate against him and hate him just for the color of his skin. This was a
very startling and nerve racking conversation for a young child to have. George feels that race
has shaped his upbringing from the very start and these are just a few of the moments where
race played a pivotal role in his early life. He believes that there is an innumerable amount of
examples like these from his preschool days that are stuck in his subconscious. As George grew
older he began to notice racial divides more and more in his everyday life. One incident stands out
above the rest for him. It was a spring afternoon and George was walking to lacrosse practice after
stopping by McDonalds to grab a bite to eat. While walking down the road, George was approached
by a police officer. This police officer stopped George and told him that there had been break ins in

The House On A Rainy Day And Lucy
Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie are four siblings sent to live in the country with the
eccentric Professor Kirke during World War II. The children explore the house on a rainy day and
Lucy, the youngest, finds an enormous wardrobe. Lucy steps inside and finds herself in a strange,
snowy wood. Lucy encounters the Faun Tumnus, who is surprised to meet a human girl. Tumnus
tells Lucy that she has entered Narnia, a different world. Tumnus invites Lucy to tea, and she
accepts. Lucy and Tumnus have a wonderful tea, but the faun bursts into tears and confesses that he
is a servant of the evil White Witch. The Witch has enchanted Narnia so that it is always winter and
never Christmas. Tumnus explains that he has been enlisted to capture human beings. Lucy
implores Tumnus to release her, and he agrees.
Lucy exits Narnia and eagerly tells her siblings about her adventure in the wardrobe. They do not
believe her, however. Lucy s siblings insist that Lucy was only gone for seconds and not for hours
as she claims. When the Pevensie children look in the back of the wardrobe they see that it is an
ordinary piece of furniture. Edmund teases Lucy mercilessly about her imaginary country until one
day when he sees her vanishing into the wardrobe. Edmund follows Lucy and finds himself in
Narnia as well. He does not see Lucy, and instead meets the White Witch that Tumnus told Lucy
about. The Witch Witch introduces herself to Edmund as the Queen of Narnia. The Witch feeds

The Political Writings Of Thomas Hobbes, John Locke And...
The political writings of Thomas Hobbes, John Locke and Jean Jacques Rousseau focus a great
deal of their work discussing various views of the state of nature, and the human nature for the
establishment of political authority. These three theorists have many differing opinions of the
purpose and reality of the state of nature, the purpose of government and the impact of founders
and how men secure their rights. In the Leviathan, Hobbes believes that the state of nature is a
constant state of war where reality does not exist. The state of war brings the necessity for all
individuals to live their lives in a constant state of fear, and that all men are equal because the
weakest man has the capability to kill the strongest. Due to the premise that the state of nature is
a constant perpetual war, government must only control and provide law and order and not
represent. In The Second Treatise of Government, Locke provides a much different account of
the state of nature. Locke believes that all men are equal in the state of nature, and have the
equality of freedom to do what they wish. Locke s state of nature is not particularly a good or bad
one. However, Locke believes that man s natural rights are their property and their liberty and
freedom, and that government should do what is necessary to protect that. Locke also believes that
the establishment of political authority is best protective to the people when they are elected by the
people and are responsive and accountable to

Amy Cuddy s Impressions
It s easy to trust someone from the get go, but once that trust is lost, it is difficult to gain back.
This is what social psychologist, Amy Cuddy, stated in her interview with Rob Capps, deputy
editor for Wired Magazine, about first impressions. In this interview, Amy Cuddy s intentions were
to specify the interactions people have when they meet for the first time. Cuddy had studied this
topic for a while, by researching people s observations. Trust is a vital element when meeting
someone, because if the person were to talk over you, then there would be no respect for the person
after that. In her interview, Cuddy said, You can also establish trust by collecting information about
the other person s interests (Cuddy, 254). She simply means

In many countries, labour cost comprises 30 to 50% of the overall project s cost (Yates and Guhathakurta, 1993), and thus is regarded as a true reflection of the economic success. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (R and G...) by Tom Stoppard is a transformation of Shakespeare s Hamlet that has been greatly influenced due to an external contextual shift. The sixteenth century Elizabethan historical and social context, accentuating a time of questioning had specific values which are transformed and altered in Stoppard s Existential, post two world wars twentieth century historical and social context. This is demonstrated in the line, and that it us befitted/to bear our hearts in grief, and our whole kingdom/ to be contracted in one brow of woe . However, his tone of sorrow is really an appearance, as it was Claudius himself who murdered Hamlet Senior. This is proven in Claudius soliloquy, the second climax to the play when he is praying. O, my offence is rank; it smells to heaven...a brother s murder . His tone is filled with guilt and it is here the value of truth is displayed. Elizabethan s would have seen Claudius deception and value the truthfulness of this climactic soliloquy, in a social context that recognised sin and believed in God s punishment and reward. This is juxtaposed by Stoppard in R and G... through using the Player to proclaim that everyone is acting. When Guildenstern asks the Player aren t you going to change into your costume? the Player replies I never change out of it, sir . This concept symbolises how life is a continual pretence and we all play act the life roles that are predetermined. The victim that identified him first told the police that Steve Titus s picture looked closest to the perpetrator. Later, during the trial the same person identified him with absolute certainty. How is this possible? False memories. The video goes on to explain that Steve Titus s case is not the only case where someone was convicted because of false memories. The misinformation effect is when a memory has been corrupted by misleading information (Myers Dewall, 2014). When exposed to misleading information, we tend to misremember. Hearing a vivid retelling of a story or event could implant false memories. Misinformation and source amnesia happen without our awareness. Because of this it is hard for people to scrutinize false memories from the real memories. For example, as adults some often tell stories of their childhoods. An analysis of Mark and his community will be discussed as well as interpreting Jesus teachings and his significant theme of Discipleship as it was then and in present society. A Gospel in general, is a textual document written in narrative form of the good news and teachings proclaimed by Jesus to announce the power of God. Mark s Gospel is one of four others (Matthew, Luke and John), where each Gospel has its differences in structure, language and theological slants. Although the Roman society questioned Monotheism, the strength of Mark s community to Jesus had overthrown their past beliefs, whereby their loyalties had met with the many hardships and dangers of Roman hierarchy just as Jesus followers did. The concept of seeing the ways of Jesus and that He is the Messiah, is to truly understand the message being portrayed throughout the Gospel, and not the surface meaning that is being represented literally. This concept was very significant to Jesus and his followers as to interpret the meaning without being said, most parables being related to the Kingdom of God and Jesus miracle stories. Times were harsh and difficult to spread and teach the words of Jesus, as Mark s community would face persecution. The disciples of Jesus could see more than other believers could perceive, from being apart of Jesus life with close relationships, as they were taught the fundamentals from Jesus himself to understand his teachings in much more depth and fluency than others. There were many similarities among Jesus twelve disciples and Mark s community, as both groups share the strong faith in Jesus and God s power by spreading the good news to others as well as experiencing hardships caused by arrogant hierarchy and society. The case which will be analyzed and explored is currently pending hearing by the Supreme Court. The current questions that the petitioners, Stryker, are asking of the Supreme Court are as follows: 1. Has the Federal Circuit improperly abrogated the plain meaning of 35 U.S.C. В§ 284 by forbidding any award of enhanced damages unless there is a finding of willfulness under a rigid, two part test, when this Court recently rejected an analogous framework imposed on 35 U.S.C. В§ 285, the statute providing for attorneys fee awards in exceptional cases? 2. Does a district court have discretion under 35 U.S.C. В§ 284 to award enhanced damages where an infringer intentionally copied a direct competitor s patented invention, knew the invention was covered by multiple patents, and made no attempt to avoid infringing the patents on that invention? (SCOTUS Blog, 2015) Stryker is petitioning the Supreme Court to explore these questions, because prior to Supreme Court filing, there had been a series of lawsuits and appeals between the plaintiff, Stryker, and defendants, Zimmer. The preliminary suit was focused on infringement of pulse lavage medical devices. Stryker and Zimmer are the two main developers and manufacturers of this medical device noted in the suit. Howl, By Allen Ginsberg Howl for Somebody I Never Met in a Place I Never Heard of about a Cause we Already Won Howl, by Allen Ginsberg, is an inaccessible writing with such obscure references from a unique personal life and small subculture from 50 years ago that it cannot stand on its own today. It tackles issues society has already decided, makes them completely unrelatable, and attempts to shock readers. Except to literary historians, this poem is irrelevant to modern society because of constant references to obscure places and people, frequent vulgarity to which internet based society has been desensitized, and societal issues that already have national level attention. However, no readers outside this tight knit group of poets would ever know Ginsberg was referring to real events, except in the one line where he almost parenthetically states, that actually happened, which serves as a point of contrast by which a reader may presume none of the other events actually happened. Carl Solomon features heavily in part three, but a first time reader has no idea who he is, why he is, or even when he was. The best an uninformed reader can say is that he is in Rockland, and that it might not be a nice place; the severity of said not nicity might range from the local government confining residents in straightjackets to simply having an unusually high population of mosquitoes during a rainy season. Even when making a reference that people outside his circle of friends would know, Ginsberg chooses Tokay, a wine, which to some readers, is nothing more than a species of gecko that lives on some South West Pacific islands. Interestingly enough, soldiers fighting wars across these islands called the Tokay Gecko the F you lizard for its call, which to some sounded like tokay, but sounded like F you to the soldiers. Other places Ginsberg references that will mean nothing to farmers in Iowa or Wall Street investors include: Paterson, Paradise Alley, Fugazzi, and Bowery. • 14. Do Not Go Gentle Into That Night By Dylan Thomas In 1957 Dylan Thomas published a poem called Do Not Go Gentle into That Night. While reading the poem towards the end you find out that this poem was not only about the inevitable death that one faces at the end of life, but also that this poem was for his dying father. In this poem Thomas uses a form of poetrycalled villanelleto intertwine many themes, as well as, symbolism and imagery to draw the reader into a sensory experience. Villanelle is a very structured form of poetry that was originated in the french language before it was introduced to the english language. It consists of nineteen lines of poetry and it is divided into six stanzas, it is composed of five three lined stanzas and one four lined stanza. Villanelles also have a very specific rhyme pattern The first and third lines of the first tercet rhyme with each other, and this rhyme is repeated through each of the next four tercets and in the last two lines of the concluding quatrain, this could also be called a refrain (Glossary A13). Dylan follows the scheme very well using the rhyme aba aba aba aba aba abaa. While Dylan follows the poetry form to a T he also is able to incorporate many themes into his poem. One of which, being a very obvious one already stated, mortality. Even though deathis inevitable, Dylan suggest that people should fight against the odds to redeem themselves, Rage, rage against the dying of the light (Thomas 3). Coppola focuses too much upon the personal struggles of Dracula himself and the audience feels a great deal of pity towards Dracula. The genius of Stoker was that his Dracula caused readers to feel both sympathy and at the same time hatred towards the monster. James Craig Holte illustrates this point when he says: As Stoker recognized, classic horror is close to tragedy, and in a work of classic horror, there are elements of pity and fear, pity for the vampire s situation but fear of his menace. Careful readers of Dracula are at the same time sympathetic to and repelled by Dracula. Coppola, despite the best of intentions, creates a work in which there is far more pity than fear; the sympathy finally overwhelms the repulsion. (Holte 85) The foundation of Coppola s film is based upon the love between Dracula and Elizobeta, and later upon the love between Dracula and Mina. His beloved Elizobeta commits suicide in his castle upon erroneously hearing of his death. Dracula was fighting Muslim invaders for the benefit of Christianity, and upon his return home he is devastated by the death of his beloved wife. • 16. The Debate About Hierarchy And Equality Within Marriage The debate about hierarchy and equality within marriage is a topic that has reverberated through the centuries as theologians, societies, and couples try to flesh out the roles of man and woman in marriage. Various hermeneutical lenses and theologians have looked at Scripture to create different assertions about who holds the authority and if there is a disparity in spousal equality. Within John Paul II s Theology of Body the hermeneutic he employs to read Scripture, especially Genesis and Ephesians, which announces spousal equality. Through this paper, it will be argued that John Paul II believes there is an equality of authority within marriagebecause marriage is reciprocal and communitarian with the basis of Christian pietas (ToB, 89:1). In John Paul II s Wednesday General Audience on August 11, 1982 (#89) he enumerated the reciprocal nature of marriage in which he established equal authority within this union. Ephesians 51 33 was the basis for his view because this passage details how spousal equality is based on the call for each spouse to be subject to one another in the fear of Christ (Eph. 5:21). The use of this passage, which is usually associated with subordination, shows the reciprocal and the communal nature of the sacrament based on pietas. A way to do that is to provide the deceased with appropriate burials, as well as to provide their families with enough knowledge to seek justice. The Weary Blues Poem Explication The Weary Blues Poem Explication Langston Hughes, a black poet, proved one of the most influential poets of the Harlem Renaissance, a flowering of African American literature, art, and culture during the 1920s and 1930s. In particular, writers of the Renaissance focused heavily on issues of black identity and struggles faced by African Americans, both economically and socially, as they struggled with the legacy of the Civil War and omnipresent discrimination. Hughes was no exception, and his body of work explored the issue of the black experience. It is most likely dark outside, and one can t see very well due to the lack of modern, up to date streetlights, communicating the run down nature of the neighborhood and creating a gloomy mood due to the lack of light on the street. The very fact that the musician is playing out on the street indicates that he is most likely down on his luck. Next, Hughes repeats the line, He did a lazy sway... /He did a lazy sway... (6 7). This repetition, and the drawn out ellipses after the lines themselves, emphasizes the fact that the night is slow and without energy. Hughes continues on, emphasizing the blackness of the musician by juxtaposing the musician s skin color with the keys of the piano, noting the movement of his ebony hands on each ivory key (9). Although the setting of the poem and the content of the blues song would normally create a downbeat mood, this expectation contrasts with the speaker s frequent apostrophes to the blues, such as O Blues! (11) and Sweet Blues! (14), which make it clear that the speaker is overcome with admiration and is struck by the nature of the song, emphasizing the contrasting nature of blues songs in general. Despite this contrast, however, the mood and setting created in the first stanza set the scene for the musician s revelation in the second stanza. Many people carry on day to day routines with no knowledge of the signs to be aware of when developing kidney failure. The two main causes of kidney failure are high blood pressure and diabetes. For people with kidney failure, options for treatment become dialysis or to receive a kidney transplant. Since the process for a kidney transplant could take years, many people choose to receive dialysis treatment. The process of dialysis serves as a substitute for the kidneys and clinically flushes the blood of any impurities. The process of dialysis evolved in the twentieth century. After watching a man die due to kidney failure, Dr. Willem Kolff (father of dialysis) discovered the first artificial kidney. In 1943, Dr. Kolff s mission to invent the first artificial kidney was a success. During the era, of World War II, the artificial dialyzers helped save many soldier s lives. Because of this great invention, many kidney patients were able to live longer which gave them a greater chance of survival. Because dialysis changed the life expectancy of the patients, many were able to receive transplants. The first kidney transplant was performed in the early 1950 s. And so the Shah does, in ever a dramatic way, when he turns his back on the President and drops to his knees to perform some sort of worship ritual at the foot of EPICAC, as he asks a riddle which in his culture will identify the arrival of an all wise god (122). When he gets no response from the machine, the Shah then likens it to Baku, or a false god. In doing so, the Shah once again underscores how ludicrous it is for the society of Ilium to essentially worship a machine. Not only do the people of Illium worship the machines, they also compete with the machines. Part of the Shah s journey is to Cornell University, where he experiences more ... This bomb decimated over two hundred thousand Japanese citizens, and caused the Empire of Japan to surrender ending World War II. In his book Hiroshima, John Heresy reveals the stories of six survivors, and how their lives were changed following the bombing. As you might expect, the time succeeding the attack was rather hectic. Even more so for physicians and nurses, as thousands of people were rushing towards them for medical assistance. Two physicians, Dr. Masakazu Fujii, and Dr. Terufumi Sasaki, have survived to tell their stories. Dr. Fujii ran a hospital that overlooked a river. When the bomb exploded, Dr. Fujii was blown off his feet and landed in the water along with the remnants of his hospital. Dr. Sasaki was much luckier than Dr. Fujii, because he remained uninjured and immediately started caring for those close to him. At the time the bomb exploded, Reverend Mr. Kiyoshi Tanimoto is helping a friend move his daughter s belongings and Father Wilhelm Kleinsorge, who was recently suffering from a stomach illness, was resting on his porch. Mrs. Hatsuyo Nakamura had three children, and when the bomb exploded, she was looking out the window. She gathers her children from the wreckage, and takes them to Asano Park, which was designed for use as an evacuation area. • 40. Tidal Restoration Estuarine environments are one of the most productive ecosystems on earth. Not only do they provide measureable environmental benefits, but social and economic benefits. Salt marshes provide habitat and serve as food resources for various wildlife such as shellfish, fish, and birds. They also act as nurseries for commercially and recreationally important shell and fin fisheries. Nearby land and waterbodies are protected from flooding, storm surges, shoreline stabilization, nutrient absorption, and water quality improvement. Wetlands and marshes not only provide the environmental aspects just mentioned, they also serve as an educational and recreational opportunity for the community. For healthy survival, salt marshplant species require proper tidal fluctuation. Over past of years, many salt marsh habitats have been lost to filling, diking, or draining. Specific materials such as installing modified tide gates or bidirectional flow tide gates, such as self regulating tide gates (SRT) if needed, rather than conventional tide gates, can improve drainage conditions, increase saline tidal flow, help control Phragmites, decrease fire hazards and mosquito breeding, restore normal saltmarsh biotic conditions, and protect adjacent development from flooding (Reiner 2011). • 41. Analysis Of mericans By Sandra Cisneros ВґMericans by Sandra Cisneros was a very straight forward literary work. The reader gets a strong sense of the setting in the first few lines of the story when Cisneros begins to use Spanish words and phrases. Just by reading the Spanish words, images, smells, and feelings come to a readers mind. For example, when I read Spanish words I think of warmth, cinnamon, and chili peppers. Also, based on the title of the text and the first few sentances I deduced that the story would be about an Americanized Mexican family, and therefore began to think of the conflicts that could result within this family. This made me curious and drew me into the text. In the first paragraph of the story, a classic church scene is described establishing the location of the setting. As the story continues, readers get the impression that the family does not have very much money because of the way the different characters are described and because the narrator says, We can not spend our allowance on fried cookies or Familia Burron comic books or those clear cone shaped suckers. These are all items that do not cost much money and therefore, readers assume that the children receive a very small allowance. Readers get an even stronger sense of the setting of the inside of the church when the author states that the grandmother disappeared behind the heavy leather outer curtain and the dusty velvet inner . Readers begin to understand that the narrator views the church as a gloomy, old, stale place, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It seems like a simple process but it was very time consuming and required a lot of analyzing to make sure the pyramids turned out symmetrical. A second early childhood experience George remembers well is having a sit down conversation with his family where they told him that some people would discriminate against him and hate him just for the color of his skin. • 47. The Political Writings Of Thomas Hobbes, John Locke And... The political writings of Thomas Hobbes, John Locke and Jean Jacques Rousseau focus a great deal of their work discussing various views of the state of nature, and the human nature for the establishment of political authority. These three theorists have many differing opinions of the purpose and reality of the state of nature, the purpose of government and the impact of founders and how men secure their rights. In the Leviathan, Hobbes believes that the state of nature is a constant state of war where reality does not exist. The state of war brings the necessity for all individuals to live their lives in a constant state of fear, and that all men are equal because the weakest man has the capability to kill the strongest. Due to the premise that the state of nature is a constant perpetual war, government must only control and provide law and order and not represent. In The Second Treatise of Government, Locke provides a much different account of the state of nature. Locke believes that all men are equal in the state of nature, and have the equality of freedom to do what they wish. Locke s state of nature is not particularly a good or bad one. However, Locke believes that man s natural rights are their property and their liberty and freedom, and that government should do what is necessary to protect that. Locke also believes that the establishment of political authority is best protective to the people when they are elected by the people and are responsive and accountable to ...
