From CEO's Desk
DearPalashians,
It’s a wonderful feeling of
achievement to see this electronic
version of Magazine coming out for
PALASH – demonstrating it’s creative
dimension, letting the cultural
aspirations sore higher, bring out a
completely different share of
everyone’s persona in front … I must
commend the Magazine Committee,
who raised to our appeal last month to
start this magazine and have been able
to get this first issue out right in Oct-15
and that too on the occasion of
“PALASH’s 10th Foundation Day”.
With the energy following in, I am sure
that this initiative will pick up and keep
it’s momentum for the time to come.
The name of the magazine is also
selected after a good amount of
brainstorming - it’s called “PALASH
Pulse - The Palashian’s Imprint” …
how closely it relates to the pulse of
PALASH’s hearth, .. how close we are
to the PULSE of the various
healthcare organizations that we are
serving – which in turn serve PULSES
of masses across… Very apt title and
the punch line … brining the
imagination, creativity and mind
footprint in reality … Great job
Magazine team and all of you who
have contributed and will keep on
contributing … PALASH Pulse, will
generate a platform for the creative
genius for the artistic Palashians to
keep expressing themselves and their
nearones.
Thinking of last 10 years for
PALASH, I went back in the memory
lane – started as a ‘niche’ product
company with the shear conviction of
our Founder Director Mr Narendra
Barhate – with his strong hunch to
matter to the healthcare, well-being of
the common man by leveraging the
Technology. A great mission by a great
mind – Narendra has stuck to his
conviction all through this time and
has been providing the inspiration,
support and encouragement to the
whole team always. His positive
attitude is contagious and gets all the
things working for you as you tackle
them. The whole Barhate family has
supported this mission wholeheartedly
and kept the ship flying. With Bharati
providing her diligence to ensure the
process alignment across the various
umbrella organization, her smiling
presence to encourage the talent, her
resourceful abilities across the globe
and her stern abilities to control the
expenditure has been a blessing to
PALASH all throughtheseyears.
Looking back, these nine years have
been a roller coaster ride – full of
achievements, new customer wins,
opening new geographies, new
product designs / architectures, new
competition growing up, customers
demanding more and more in less and
less … We are now at the pinnacle and
are looking up for a sky rocketing
journey ahead of us. We are seeing
ourselves as a world class Product
Company to reach the top position in
india and across globe in coming 5

performance based culture and our
quarterly appraisal cycle will reinforce
the same for the continuous
improvement. The changes are both
inward looking and outward looking.
Inwardly, we have done the re-
baselining of our Product Pricing

monetization process; we have
instituted a focus on our key customers
and have got a formal Account
Management Process starting it’s effect
by having the top 10 customers

on PALASH and it’s products; Focus
on Quality Management process has

started yielding us it’s fruits for
customers being more confident about
the stability and performance of our
products; Product Management has
provided the roadmap for the products
and we are able to govern adoption
cycles with customers. Outwards
looking changes are in the form of our
website getting revamped and more
interactive, our collaterals being more
apt and messaging the new Product
centric positioning effectively, our
proposals reflecting the thought
process of license sales, the
Partnership focus to enable our
ecosystem access getting strengthened.
All in all, generating a very positive vibe
insidePALASH, and themarketplace.
The next year, 10th year for PALASH
will focusing on the number “10” and
we are carving out huge sets of
initiatives to build the branding around
it. We will have “Top 10” customers
getting identified and we having our
“top 10 PALASH musketeers (account
managers)” managing these accounts.
We will identify “Top 10 processes”
getting identified and define the
transformational map for the same. We
have already carved out “Mission 100
days” for our SWARM strategy and will
keep momentum going on the same –
we have articulated a “Top 10 incentive
Scheme” – which will focus on
incentivizing the employees to
demonstrate their contributions for

remunerated. Our 10 steps in Sales
Process are getting automated in the
CRM tool as we speak. Our “Mission
Critical” initiative focusing on Process
Excellence will create “Top 10 Process
Missions” to set the goal and keep the
ball rolling for each one of them. All in
all – “it’s going to be the number 10
that we will talk about for the next
year”…
Looking forward, I see
PALASH becoming a stronger brand,
beating competition on its strong
foundation of domain, technology and
customer alignments. PALASH as an
organization will become more supple,
flexible, efficient and capable to
respond to the markets expectations
and trends moving forward. There will

referrals to PALASH and we will have
dedicated Center Of Excellences
focused on serving these customers.
We will open some very domain

Sitting at the helm of this organization,
I feel extremely satisfied by the
contributions each one of you and
your dear ones have made to take
PALASH to this height and am
confident that you will keep on giving

I would like to leave you with the
following thought – let’s jointly enable
PALASH to get on to the “excellence”
journey…

Mr. NarendraBarhate
Can you share some insights on
yourpersonalhistory?
I c o m e f r o m a g r i c u l t u r a l
background from a village. I am hailing
from Padalse part of Maharashtra and
am still having connects with the place
till now. My grandfather has been a
farmer and I can associate very well
with it even now and would like to
associate myself back very naturally to
the ecosystem and the people in this
context. During all the ventures in my
life, I have strongly believed in being
self-dependent and building a network
of like-minded brains. I have been
deeply supported by the wide network
of my friends, family and business
believers.
How is your educational and
professionaljourney?
I have done my schooling in Pune
from Jnana Prabodini and completed
my Bachelor of Engineering from
COEP in Electronics and Telecom and
an M.Tech. in Computer Science from
IIT Mumbai. After completing my
post-graduation, I worked for DRDO
Labs from 1984 to 1994. Then I
conceptualized SEED Infotech Ltd, a
company that provides technology
training and consulting services in
1994. Since then, SEED has set up 43

centers in India and has a global presence
through it’s corporate training division. I
am a passionate trainer at heart and have
personally conducted more than 10,000
hours of IT trainings, in various
technologies, in the last two decades.
Trained a large number of raw IT students
and IT professionals and developed insight
into their needs. SEED is also the winner of
the Maharashtra State IT HRD award. I
realized the importance and potential of
healthcare in India and ventured a new
company focused on “Healthcare IT
Solutions” with the name SEED
Healthcare Solutions in 2006 and has
successfully installed Hospital Information
and Management software in over 100
hospitals in India and the Middle East.
PALASH serves as my venture in the
healthcare space and SMS (SEED
Management Services) is the venture to
cater to the needs of the corporates to
manage their Employee Attendance and
related workflows. I am proud, that both of
these ventures able to take their solutions
across the globe and are making dent in the
international arena. Making me as a proud
Indian entrepreneur.
You get referred as “an entrepreneur at
heart and you live in world of
entrepreneurship”.. whatisyourview?
I have never been comfortable with the
concept of “doing a job” – I could barely
spend some 10 years of my budding time to
be constrained in
the job of DRDO
– though it was a
research centric
a n d h i g h l y
scientific job, my
heart immediately
started flying for
the freedom and
empowerment that
I was seeking. I am

heart and get a
quick taste of
“what’s new, what
will work, will it
work now / later,
how will I make it
work and how does
it fit my scheme of
things / thinking” in a short period
of time. Then my thoughts start
connecting dots between my existing
list of well-wishers and like-minded
people that have a great trust and
blessings on me. Once I connect the
dots together, the idea gets a birth
and the focus and intensity of my
thoughts drives the structuring,
people and processes together in a
matter of a very short time span. The
entity gets birth and start showing its
presence slowly as the realities and
constraints play their own roles.
Every journey is enjoyable – a lot of
learning and companionship along
the way – some of them get
commerciallysuccessfuland some of
them may not – I derive my
satisfaction from the conception,
inception, realization and execution.
I always seek a spark in the eye for
“entrepreneurship” and encourage
and nurture the minds to launch
themselves and strive hard to learn
fromtheexperiences.
What keeps you going now a
days?
I have been and am deeply
concerned about the current
situation of education, healthcare
and ecology india. I am addressing
them in my current capacity, the
companies under SEED banner are
already targeting these challenges in
their roadmaps. For ecology mainly
the water usage and rain related
imbalance, I have recently started an
initiative at Pune level to drive Rain
Water Harvesting awareness and
getting the likeminded people
together - within a span of a week,
and the enabling social network, I am
having a network of 100+
enthusiasts coming together for the
noble cause . A formal structure and
formulation is taking its shape in an
aggressivemanner.
How do you see PALASH
healthcaremovingforward?
I am having a strong conviction
that PALASH has a huge potential
and is sitting on a “gold mine” – great
domain knowledge, deeply rootedMr. Narendra Barhate

relationships and forward looking
technology landscape is the key
successfactorsforPALASH.
How do you look at “challenges” in
thisworld?
I think that “challenges” are
actually “opportunities” – to create
something new, to think of a different
way to solve the same problem / issues
at hand. I think, this mindset at the
leadership level is the key to success in
any “so called challenging” situation.
With the experience of the dark years
of IT in 2001-04, the recent lean /
recession period, I took the lead to find
and realize what can be done pro-

actively for a positive frame of mind and
to build a 'Win' situation. While in the
recession in 2008-09, I conceptualized a
brand new “Top Gun” initiative with a
winning attitude and daring to succeed,
social initiatives like 'Lakshya' were taken
up. This was with the thought that,
whatever you Focus on Grows. To
conceive innovative ideas and, to focus on,
to succeed. It soon caught the imagination
of one and all. The meetings were hugely
over-subscribed and more joined with
everymeeting.
What is the message you would like to

ALASH's existing Association
Pwith Microsoft is the Silver
Partners. We are now in the
process of upgrading this partnership
to Gold Certified Partners.
There are Prerequisites for these up-
gradations to qualify for one of the
competencies available under Microsoft
Competencies Portfolio. To complete
the process of qualification there are
protocols that needs to be followed.
We have identified application
development as one of the competency
for qualification.
The great news is that we are on the
verge of completing this process and
will be Microsoft Gold Partners in the
near future.
PALASH: to be a Microsoft Gold Partner
P Flash
There are numerous benefits of
being a Microsoft partner, including:
Ÿ Building networks within
Microsoft and with other
Microsoft partners
Ÿ Access to Microsoft software and
in-depth product information
Ÿ Promote your offerings on
Microsoft.com
There are 3 different levels of
Microsoft partner: Registered, Certified
and Certified Gold.
Gold Certified Partners
This is the third and highest level of
Microsoft partner. As a certified gold
partner, you will have a very close
working relationship with Microsoft and
you will have access to the Partner
Knowledge Base and receive priority
listing in Microsoft directories.
Benefits:
Ÿ Internal-Use Licenses Free licenses
for Microsoft software to use
within your organization. Check
this list for license entitlement.
Ÿ After you've attained Gold
Certified Partner status,
announcing it with a press release
can help you generate new
business, increase your credibility
with existing customers, and
distinguish yourself from your
competition.
Ÿ Gold Certified Partner Logo
Ÿ A key benefit for Gold Certified
Partners is the ability to use the
Microsoft Gold Certified Partner
logo in partner-branded marketing
materials. Display your company's
high level of industry experience
providing services, software, or
support for Microsoft technology.
And show customers that you're
reliable, thoroughly skilled, and
endorsed by Microsoft.
Existing choice of Technology
hen we first chose Silverlight as
Wour UI technology, we came up
with a set of requirements. Our
application should have a (near) zero
footprint on client systems. It should be
accessible through the web.
Deployment on clients should be
effortless. It should look great without a
whole lot of effort. Silverlight fulfills all
these requirements.
In due course of time we started
analyzing that people working on more
different platforms than before and our
customers began to ask for a browser
HTML5
Ÿ Mobile Friendly: HTML5 is the
most mobile ready tool for
developing mobile sites and apps.
With Adobe announcing the death
of mobile Flash, you will now count
on HTML5 to do your mobile web
application development.
Ÿ Cross Browser Support: All
browsers supports HTML5
(Chrome, Firefox, Safari IE9 and
Opera) and the HTML5 doctype
was created so that all browsers,
even the really old and annoying
ones, User can use it.
Ÿ Better Interactions: we all want
better interactions, we all want a
more dynamic application that
responds to the users and allow the
users to easily interact with the
contents instead of just look at it.
Highlights of ASP.net MVC are:
Ÿ Enables the full control over the
rendered HTML.
Ÿ Provides clean separation of
concerns(SoC).
Ÿ Enables Test Driven Development.
AngularJS:
Ÿ AngularJS is a powerful JavaScript
based development framework to
create RICH Internet
Application(RIA).
Ÿ AngularJS provides developers
options to write client side
application (using JavaScript) in a
clean MVC(Model View Controller)
way.
Ÿ Application written in AngularJS is
cross-browser compliant. AngularJS
automatically handles JavaScript
code suitable for each browser.
independent UI, not only on Windows,
but also on a lot of other platforms.
This lead us to conclude that we needed
to do something to support a new
requirement. Our application, should be
available on multiple platforms. And we
should make sure we could drop the
browser requirement.

he huge problem with high
Tblood pressure—besides the
fact that it can lead to heart
attack and stroke—is that it is hard to
detect without the assistance of
technology.
According to the American Heart
Association, high blood pressure is
more often than not a symptomless
ailment. For this reason, it is vital that
patients regularly get checked, especially
those who are known to be at risk.
While conveniences are already in
place to encourage everyone to
regularly check their blood pressure,
such as units at pharmacies, a new set
of gadgets released under the umbrella-
term of Accutension are on a mission
to make monitoring blood pressure
simpler. And unlike automatic blood
pressure monitors (BPM) who have
been shown to be subject to variation in
readings, Accutension detects blood
pressure by listening to the sounds of
blood flow, just as doctors in a clinical
setting would. The big difference is that
this BPM is compatible with your
Smartphone.
It works like this: the sound of the
tube from the stethoscope is fed into
the Smartphone through a microphone
hooked into the headphone jack. Users
then set up and run their BPM as usual,
Smartphone:
The New Blood Pressure Monitors
E Drive
but they video record the device's
display with their Smartphone. Once
the test has been completed, the user
can replay the video of the BPM
display, while listening to the sounds
detected by the Accutension stetho-
scope. This allows the user to match up
the sounds detected by the Stethoscope
with the visual results of his or her
BPM. When the user hears the first
Korotkoff sound (the sound heard with
the help of Stethoscope while
measuring the Blood pressure), the
number that should appear on the
screen is the systolic pressure and upon
the sound's disappearance, the number
on the screen should reflect the
diastolic pressure. (For E.g. if the Blood
pressure is 120/80 mm of Hg, Systolic
Pressure is 120 and Diastolic pressure is
80)
Alternatively, variations of the
Accutension allow for more in-depth
reporting of blood pressure.
The Accutension Classic allows
users to test the accuracy of their
BPM's algorithm as well as its pressure
sensor by utilizing a module that
connects to the arm of the BPM. The
diagnostics will be displayed on the
user's Smartphone via the Accutension
App.
Another option is to use the
Accutension Cuff as a standalone blood
pressure kit, which supplies both a
visual and audio reading that can be
played back on a Smartphone, and
saved to show a doctor later. Last but
not least, Accutension Doc allows users
to conduct their own research with the
inclusion of a few helpful extras.
The conveniences afforded by
healthcare technology are by no means
a replacement for knowledgeable
medical professionals. To the contrary,
at-home tools such as Accutension, and
telemedicine technology that allows
doctors to assess patients' health
remotely, are intended to enhance
medical professionals' abilities to
monitor our health with greater
efficiency. Telemedicine, for example,
allows doctors to treat minor ailments
of patients in underserved areas who
may otherwise have to travel great
distances for medical advice that could
have been provided over video
conference.
In the case of Accutension—and
countless other Smartphone-based
healthcare applications—efficiency is
derived in the form of at-home medical
technology that is advanced enough to
provide accurate information, but also
simple enough, and affordable enough,
for consumer use.
If the current mindset driving
innovation in the healthcare technology
could be summed up, it would be as
follows: convenience cannot, and will
not, be a tradeoff for quality.
Let's hope it stays this way, and
more importantly, let's hope that this
mindset permeates other areas of our
everyday lives.

surrounded by borders in our mind
where we feel secure. Even though this
comfort area and its boundaries are just
a state of mind that has nothing to do
with reality, it plays a huge role in the
progress of our development. Since the
comfort zone is limited, there is not
much benefit for you inside your
comfort zone, but what you already are
and have. Nothing new will happen until
you open yourself and leave your
comfort zone.
As long as you still are having the
same beliefs, you cannot grow and you
cannot expect new things in your life.
When you change your beliefs you will
change your thoughts, feelings and
actions and then, and only then you can
expand and grow in all aspects of your
life.
Even though your background may
be affecting your present situation, what
really matters is not where you were
born, your skin color, race, age, gender,
religion, government, or even the poor
environment in which you have been
living for so many years, but what really
matters and makes a big difference in
your life is your attitude, to understand
your comfort zone, how you limit
yourself within it, who you are, why you
behave the way you do it, and mainly
where you are going.
Sadly many people don't go
anywhere because they stay within their
comfort zone. They accept defeat after
defeat before even trying or knowing
how capable or valuable they really are.
These circumstances are not the cause
of our actual situation but the
conformism and the poverty of our
thoughts and therefore the weakness of
our broken spirit. Leave your past
behind; constantly transcend your
comfort zone! Your past within this
comfort zone is nothing but a wasted
load that you don't need to carry, at all.
Take constant action as many times
as it is required and never ever quit. As
Napoleon Hill said, "a quitter never wins
and a winner never quits. Defeat is never
a failure; no circumstance ever
is failure until it is accepted by the
individual as a failure". Whatever you are
Attitude Vs Comfort Zone
thinking, you are feeling, and therefore
what you feel is the way you are acting,
and this action is what will
determine how far you will go and how
your future will be. Cheer up your
essence; don't let the background of
your comfort zone, or any other
external circumstance defeat your spirit.
Nothing is impossible for an
optimist attitude; everything is possible
when we start blindly trusting ourselves,
when we have a burning desire to
succeed and a blind determination to
make our dreams come true; everything
is possible when we don't take a no for
an answer.
Don't be afraid of change, life itself
is change, change is growth, and
regardless of how painful it may be,
change is needed. Change will take you
to a place full of new things, blessings
and satisfaction, everything is for better.
Just focus and only live your present
with passion, focus on the things you
want and what make you happy. Just
believe in yourself, be open minded,
open to change, be simple, flexible and
take action.
This picture of burning scented sticks is taken in
January 2015 at Tripura Sundari Temple which is
situated in the ancient Udaipur, about 55 km from
Agartala, in the state of Tripura. It is believed to be
one of the holiest Hindu shrines in this part of the
country. All though the shrine draws devotees of
all denominations and sects all year round
including some foreigners who are fascinated by
the tribal heritage of Tripura and adjacent states
of the Northeast, the crowds are particularly thick
during Diwali, when a major fair turns the place
into a tourist attraction. Thousands of devotees'
visits their everyday and burn scented sticks and
lights candles with hope that god will listen to their
prayerand willremoveall theirsins.

Marine Drive - Sunset
The great wall, the queen's necklace or simply
Netaji Subhash Chandra Marg, whatever you may
call it, Mumbai's Marine Drive is popular amongst
the young and the old alike. I recently had an
opportunity to spend some time at this
windswept promenade located in the heart of
Mumbai, flanked by the Arabian Sea on one side
and by posh art deco buildings on the other.
Initially I was going away from Marine drive and
suddenly saw this awesome scene, crossed the
road in rush and captured this beautiful moment.
I took more than 30 snaps but found this one the
BEST.
White Throated Kingfisher
This snap has been clicked recently at Pashan
Lake. The White-throated Kingfisher (Halcyon
smyrnensis) also known as the White-breasted
Kingfisher or Smyrna Kingfisher, is a tree
kingfisher, found through Middle East and most
of Asian subcontinent. This species forms a
superspecies with the Javan Kingfisher (Halcyon
cyanoventris) and most major works recognize
four geographic races. They vary clinally in size,
the shades of blue on the mantle which is more
greenish in smyrnensis and fusca and more blue or
purplish in saturatior. This kingfisher is a resident
over much of its range, although some
populations may make short distance movements.
It can often be found well away from water where
it feeds on a wide range of prey that includes small
reptiles, amphibians, crabs, small rodents and even
birds. Their size is about 28 cms, slightly larger
than a Bulbuland has a loud call. White Throated Kingfisher

“Pink Ribbon Movement”
here was a time, not too many
Tyears have passed when I or
maybe we tried telling our
mother for getting tested for Breast
Cancer or even just attend an awareness
session. But what happened? Default
statements were thrown on our Ear
Drums of getting scared 'what if
something comes out' and some were
of superior category saying 'Hamari
Family mein kisi ko nahi hai'. Unaware
of the fact that 80% of the diagnosed
Breast Cancers are without any family
History.
We all are well aware that such
subjects are not openly discussed; even
some may find it embarrassing to read it
but why care for something which is a
brain block. Why only women, why can't
even men read this? Of course they can
,rather they should that too with equal
curiosity and equal concern, for a very
simple reason, their loved ones are
women.
It is alarming. Breast cancer cases
show a drastic increase in last couple of
years, the disease is shifting to younger
ladies. Earlier it was common between
the age of 50 to 70 years but now it has
shifted to the age between 30 to 50
years Increased life expectancy,
increased urbanization and adoption of
western lifestyles are all responsible for
the reduced distance between us and
Cancer.
It is surprising to know that in India
Breast Cancer accounts for 25 to 30 %
(Courtesy:WHO) of all the Cancers in
women. A survey showed that India has
17% of the world population suffering
from Breast Cancer.
The motto behind this information
is not to create a threatening
atmosphere by displaying statistical
figures nor is it to discuss the surgeries
or the chemo therapies or removal of
breasts and so on. It is just to create
awareness amongst each and every
individual and encourage prevention
against the most common Cancer
amongst Indian Women and a Global
disease – Breast Cancer.
The month of October is observed
as the World Breast Cancer Awareness
month. The Pink Ribbon is an
international symbol of Breast Cancer
Awareness. Pink is the quintessential
female color. It has a calming, quieting
effect, has a quality of lessening stress.
“We cannot prevent it; we can only
detect it early”
The color is known to be health-giving.
Wearing Pink Ribbon means that one
promotes Breast Cancer Awareness and
expresses moral support for the women
with Breast Cancer.
Breast cancer is cancer that develops
from breast tissue. Signs of breast
cancer may include a lump in the breast,
a change in breast shape, dimpling of
the skin, fluid coming from the nipple,
or a red scaly patch of skin. Distant
spread of the disease may lead to bone
pain, swollen lymph nodes, shortness of
breath, or yellow skin.
Risk factors for developing breast
cancer include:
Being Female , Obesity, Lack of
physical exercise, Drinking alcohol,
Hormone replacement therapy during
menopause, Ionizing radiation, Early
age at first menstruation, Having
children late or not at all, Older age
What least can be done?
Breast Self Examination is a basic
step to put forth by every single woman.
We can easily spare 5 minutes once out
of 7 days.
What is recommended?
Ÿ Clinical Breast Examination by your
Gynecologist every 6 months to 1
year after the age of 25 years
Ÿ Sonomammography between the age
of 30 to 40 every year
Ÿ Mammography after the age of 40
every year
Do not hesitate to talk to your
Gynecologist for any suspicious
lump/change in the breast.
What least or what is recommended,
is it something really difficult to achieve
in busiest of our daily schedule? Do we
really want to continue to be ignorant
under the cover of our busy lives?
Everything what has been put on
view is pointing to one necessity and
that is Breast Cancer screening.
We will be able to find loads and
loads of information on the subject on
websites, newspapers but just reading all
that and keeping self updated is not
enough. Mind it!
Put your best foot forward i.e Care;
take care for self because you want to
take care of your family.
The best protection
is early detection

Jog One's Memory
October is Breast Cancer
Awareness Month, which is an annual
campaign to increase awareness of the
disease. While most people are aware
of breast cancer, many forget to take
the steps to have a plan to detect the
disease in its early stages and encourage
otherstodo thesame.
Pink Ribbon Symbolizes Breast
Cancer Awareness hence it is also
called as a Pink Ribbon Movement or a
PinkRibbon Campaign.
With people living and working
longer, it's increasingly important that
we recognise the importance of
supporting senior citizens and OAPs
within our society. Senior Citizens Day
is an opportunity to acknowledge the
long-term contribution and dedication
of older people, and to ensure that
we're doing our best to give something
backtoolderpeople.
Breast Cancer
Awareness Month -
October 2015
Whether it's a moral, dietary, health
or lifestyle choice, Vegetarian Day
embraces and encourages respect for
those who turn the back on eating
meat.
World Sight Day is a special annual
day of awareness that is celebrated
around the world each year in order to
focus on blindness and vision
impairment. This day was created by the
World Health Organization in
collaboration with the International
Agency for the Prevention of Blindness
and awareness is spread through a large
number of different events. A large
numberof organizations around the
world have been involved with World
Sight Day for many years. Some people
choose to show their support by
planting trees, while other people get
involved by submitting a photograph
that will be used to create an
international photograph montage
focusing on the theme of blindness.
Other activities that take place on this
day include special fund raising walks to
help cover the costs of operations, book
readings for the blind and a number of
booklets and posters that are created in
ordertoraiseawarenessof theissue.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) is the
air arm of the Indian armed forces. It's
the World's 4th largest Air force. Its
primary responsibility is to secure
Indian airspace and to conduct aerial
warfare during a conflict. It was
officially established on 8 October 1932
as an auxiliary air force of the British
Empire and the prefix Royal was added
in 1945 in recognition of its services
during World War II. After India
became independent from the United
Kingdom in 1947, the Royal Indian Air
Force served the Dominion, with the
prefix being dropped when India
became a republic in 1950 and called
Indian AirForce.
World Arthritis Day is a day to
remember and raise awareness of the
condition called Arthritis, and how it
affects the lives of those that suffer with
it. World Arthritis day was brought about
by the Arthritis Foundation to do just
that, and to encourage policymakers to
help lower the burden of those suffering
fromArthritisall overtheworld.
World Arthritis Day is a great time to get
out and lend a helping hand to those
suffering from this condition. If you
have relatives who suffer from it, take a
day to go over and help them out with
the things that are made difficult for
them because of their condition. Take
some time to do some research and get a
clear understanding of how people have
theirlivesaffectedbyit.

anesh Chaturthi is a Hindu
Gfestival celebrated on the
birthday (rebirth) of lord
Ganesha, the son of lord Shiva and
Parvati. It was initiated in Maharashtra
by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaja, the
great Maratha ruler, to promote culture
and nationalism. And it had continued
ever since. Later, under Lokmanya
Tilak's encouragement the festival
facilitated community participation
and involvement in the form of
intellectual discourses, poetry recitals,
performances of plays, musical
concerts and folk dances. People wait
for this festival eagerly and it is
celebrated in various schools, colleges,
homes, public places, corporate offices
etc.

  • 3. From CEO's Desk DearPalashians, It’s a wonderful feeling of achievement to see this electronic version of Magazine coming out for PALASH – demonstrating it’s creative dimension, letting the cultural aspirations sore higher, bring out a completely different share of everyone’s persona in front … I must commend the Magazine Committee, who raised to our appeal last month to start this magazine and have been able to get this first issue out right in Oct-15 and that too on the occasion of “PALASH’s 10th Foundation Day”. With the energy following in, I am sure that this initiative will pick up and keep it’s momentum for the time to come. The name of the magazine is also selected after a good amount of brainstorming - it’s called “PALASH Pulse - The Palashian’s Imprint” … how closely it relates to the pulse of PALASH’s hearth, .. how close we are to the PULSE of the various healthcare organizations that we are serving – which in turn serve PULSES of masses across… Very apt title and the punch line … brining the imagination, creativity and mind footprint in reality … Great job Magazine team and all of you who have contributed and will keep on contributing … PALASH Pulse, will generate a platform for the creative genius for the artistic Palashians to keep expressing themselves and their nearones. Thinking of last 10 years for PALASH, I went back in the memory lane – started as a ‘niche’ product company with the shear conviction of our Founder Director Mr Narendra Barhate – with his strong hunch to matter to the healthcare, well-being of the common man by leveraging the Technology. A great mission by a great mind – Narendra has stuck to his conviction all through this time and has been providing the inspiration, support and encouragement to the whole team always. His positive attitude is contagious and gets all the things working for you as you tackle them. The whole Barhate family has supported this mission wholeheartedly and kept the ship flying. With Bharati providing her diligence to ensure the process alignment across the various umbrella organization, her smiling presence to encourage the talent, her resourceful abilities across the globe and her stern abilities to control the expenditure has been a blessing to PALASH all throughtheseyears. Looking back, these nine years have been a roller coaster ride – full of achievements, new customer wins, opening new geographies, new product designs / architectures, new competition growing up, customers demanding more and more in less and less … We are now at the pinnacle and are looking up for a sky rocketing journey ahead of us. We are seeing ourselves as a world class Product Company to reach the top position in india and across globe in coming 5 y e a r s. We a r e i n s t a t i n g t h e performance based culture and our quarterly appraisal cycle will reinforce the same for the continuous improvement. The changes are both inward looking and outward looking. Inwardly, we have done the re- baselining of our Product Pricing S t r a t e g y a n d r e va m p i n g t h e monetization process; we have instituted a focus on our key customers and have got a formal Account Management Process starting it’s effect by having the top 10 customers reflecting more and more conviction on PALASH and it’s products; Focus on Quality Management process has PALASH Pulse, Oct 2015 1|
  • 4. From CEO's Desk started yielding us it’s fruits for customers being more confident about the stability and performance of our products; Product Management has provided the roadmap for the products and we are able to govern adoption cycles with customers. Outwards looking changes are in the form of our website getting revamped and more interactive, our collaterals being more apt and messaging the new Product centric positioning effectively, our proposals reflecting the thought process of license sales, the Partnership focus to enable our ecosystem access getting strengthened. All in all, generating a very positive vibe insidePALASH, and themarketplace. The next year, 10th year for PALASH will focusing on the number “10” and we are carving out huge sets of initiatives to build the branding around it. We will have “Top 10” customers getting identified and we having our “top 10 PALASH musketeers (account managers)” managing these accounts. We will identify “Top 10 processes” getting identified and define the transformational map for the same. We have already carved out “Mission 100 days” for our SWARM strategy and will keep momentum going on the same – we have articulated a “Top 10 incentive Scheme” – which will focus on incentivizing the employees to demonstrate their contributions for PA LA S H ’s b usi n ess a n d g et remunerated. Our 10 steps in Sales Process are getting automated in the CRM tool as we speak. Our “Mission Critical” initiative focusing on Process Excellence will create “Top 10 Process Missions” to set the goal and keep the ball rolling for each one of them. All in all – “it’s going to be the number 10 that we will talk about for the next year”… Looking forward, I see PALASH becoming a stronger brand, beating competition on its strong foundation of domain, technology and customer alignments. PALASH as an organization will become more supple, flexible, efficient and capable to respond to the markets expectations and trends moving forward. There will We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit. Aristotle be sets of customers giving strong referrals to PALASH and we will have dedicated Center Of Excellences focused on serving these customers. We will open some very domain focused ventures to cater to niche market segment and attract talents, investments and markets to make thoseventuressuccessful. Sitting at the helm of this organization, I feel extremely satisfied by the contributions each one of you and your dear ones have made to take PALASH to this height and am confident that you will keep on giving thesamesupportmovingforward. I would like to leave you with the following thought – let’s jointly enable PALASH to get on to the “excellence” journey… Regards, Shirish Kulkarni PALASH Pulse, Oct 2015 2|
  • 5. Mr. NarendraBarhate Can you share some insights on yourpersonalhistory? I c o m e f r o m a g r i c u l t u r a l background from a village. I am hailing from Padalse part of Maharashtra and am still having connects with the place till now. My grandfather has been a farmer and I can associate very well with it even now and would like to associate myself back very naturally to the ecosystem and the people in this context. During all the ventures in my life, I have strongly believed in being self-dependent and building a network of like-minded brains. I have been deeply supported by the wide network of my friends, family and business believers. How is your educational and professionaljourney? I have done my schooling in Pune from Jnana Prabodini and completed my Bachelor of Engineering from COEP in Electronics and Telecom and an M.Tech. in Computer Science from IIT Mumbai. After completing my post-graduation, I worked for DRDO Labs from 1984 to 1994. Then I conceptualized SEED Infotech Ltd, a company that provides technology training and consulting services in 1994. Since then, SEED has set up 43 PALASH Pulse, Oct 2015 3| In Conversation with.. centers in India and has a global presence through it’s corporate training division. I am a passionate trainer at heart and have personally conducted more than 10,000 hours of IT trainings, in various technologies, in the last two decades. Trained a large number of raw IT students and IT professionals and developed insight into their needs. SEED is also the winner of the Maharashtra State IT HRD award. I realized the importance and potential of healthcare in India and ventured a new company focused on “Healthcare IT Solutions” with the name SEED Healthcare Solutions in 2006 and has successfully installed Hospital Information and Management software in over 100 hospitals in India and the Middle East. PALASH serves as my venture in the healthcare space and SMS (SEED Management Services) is the venture to cater to the needs of the corporates to manage their Employee Attendance and related workflows. I am proud, that both of these ventures able to take their solutions across the globe and are making dent in the international arena. Making me as a proud Indian entrepreneur. You get referred as “an entrepreneur at heart and you live in world of entrepreneurship”.. whatisyourview? I have never been comfortable with the concept of “doing a job” – I could barely spend some 10 years of my budding time to be constrained in the job of DRDO – though it was a research centric a n d h i g h l y scientific job, my heart immediately started flying for the freedom and empowerment that I was seeking. I am i n d e e d a n entrepreneur at heart and get a quick taste of “what’s new, what will work, will it work now / later, how will I make it work and how does it fit my scheme of things / thinking” in a short period of time. Then my thoughts start connecting dots between my existing list of well-wishers and like-minded people that have a great trust and blessings on me. Once I connect the dots together, the idea gets a birth and the focus and intensity of my thoughts drives the structuring, people and processes together in a matter of a very short time span. The entity gets birth and start showing its presence slowly as the realities and constraints play their own roles. Every journey is enjoyable – a lot of learning and companionship along the way – some of them get commerciallysuccessfuland some of them may not – I derive my satisfaction from the conception, inception, realization and execution. I always seek a spark in the eye for “entrepreneurship” and encourage and nurture the minds to launch themselves and strive hard to learn fromtheexperiences. What keeps you going now a days? I have been and am deeply concerned about the current situation of education, healthcare and ecology india. I am addressing them in my current capacity, the companies under SEED banner are already targeting these challenges in their roadmaps. For ecology mainly the water usage and rain related imbalance, I have recently started an initiative at Pune level to drive Rain Water Harvesting awareness and getting the likeminded people together - within a span of a week, and the enabling social network, I am having a network of 100+ enthusiasts coming together for the noble cause . A formal structure and formulation is taking its shape in an aggressivemanner. How do you see PALASH healthcaremovingforward? I am having a strong conviction that PALASH has a huge potential and is sitting on a “gold mine” – great domain knowledge, deeply rootedMr. Narendra Barhate
  • 6. a n d l o n g l a s t i n g c u s t o m e r s relationships and forward looking technology landscape is the key successfactorsforPALASH. How do you look at “challenges” in thisworld? I think that “challenges” are actually “opportunities” – to create something new, to think of a different way to solve the same problem / issues at hand. I think, this mindset at the leadership level is the key to success in any “so called challenging” situation. With the experience of the dark years of IT in 2001-04, the recent lean / recession period, I took the lead to find and realize what can be done pro- PALASH Pulse, Oct 2015 4| In Conversation with.. actively for a positive frame of mind and to build a 'Win' situation. While in the recession in 2008-09, I conceptualized a brand new “Top Gun” initiative with a winning attitude and daring to succeed, social initiatives like 'Lakshya' were taken up. This was with the thought that, whatever you Focus on Grows. To conceive innovative ideas and, to focus on, to succeed. It soon caught the imagination of one and all. The meetings were hugely over-subscribed and more joined with everymeeting. What is the message you would like to leavetotheyounggeneration? I strongly believe that positivity is the key to success, lets remove all the I would like to leave you thinking with the following thoughts by great Swami Vivekananda. God Bless. negativity in the form of thoughts, acts, scripts, actions from our minds and we become enabled and blessed with all the “opportunity” in this world. Let's confront the challenges, rather than sitting on them or complaining about them. Let's come together for the larger aim than just self-centered aims and then the things will start looking different and enable us to “unleash potential” each one of ushave. As a last note, my doors and heart is always open for each one of you and I would like to bless you and your dear ones with the best of the best wishes for yourfutureendeavor.

There are Prerequisites for these up- gradations to qualify for one of the competencies available under Microsoft Competencies Portfolio. To complete the process of qualification there are protocols that needs to be followed. We have identified application development as one of the competency for qualification. The great news is that we are on the verge of completing this process and will be Microsoft Gold Partners in the near future. PALASH: to be a Microsoft Gold Partner P Flash There are numerous benefits of being a Microsoft partner, including: Ÿ Building networks within Microsoft and with other Microsoft partners Ÿ Access to Microsoft software and in-depth product information Ÿ Promote your offerings on Microsoft.com There are 3 different levels of Microsoft partner: Registered, Certified and Certified Gold. Gold Certified Partners This is the third and highest level of Microsoft partner. As a certified gold partner, you will have a very close working relationship with Microsoft and you will have access to the Partner Knowledge Base and receive priority listing in Microsoft directories. Benefits: Ÿ Internal-Use Licenses Free licenses for Microsoft software to use within your organization. Check this list for license entitlement. Ÿ After you've attained Gold Certified Partner status, announcing it with a press release can help you generate new business, increase your credibility with existing customers, and distinguish yourself from your competition. Existing choice of Technology hen we first chose Silverlight as Wour UI technology, we came up with a set of requirements. Our application should have a (near) zero footprint on client systems. It should be accessible through the web. Deployment on clients should be effortless. It should look great without a whole lot of effort. Silverlight fulfills all these requirements. In due course of time we started analyzing that people working on more different platforms than before and our customers began to ask for a browser HTML5 Ÿ Mobile Friendly: HTML5 is the most mobile ready tool for developing mobile sites and apps. With Adobe announcing the death of mobile Flash, you will now count on HTML5 to do your mobile web application development. Ÿ Cross Browser Support: All browsers supports HTML5 (Chrome, Firefox, Safari IE9 and Opera) and the HTML5 doctype was created so that all browsers, even the really old and annoying ones, User can use it. Ÿ Better Interactions: we all want better interactions, we all want a more dynamic application that responds to the users and allow the users to easily interact with the contents instead of just look at it. Highlights of ASP.net MVC are: Ÿ Enables the full control over the rendered HTML. Ÿ Provides clean separation of concerns(SoC). Ÿ Enables Test Driven Development. AngularJS: Ÿ AngularJS is a powerful JavaScript based development framework to create RICH Internet Application(RIA). Ÿ AngularJS provides developers options to write client side application (using JavaScript) in a clean MVC(Model View Controller) way. Ÿ Application written in AngularJS is cross-browser compliant. AngularJS automatically handles JavaScript code suitable for each browser. independent UI, not only on Windows, but also on a lot of other platforms. This lead us to conclude that we needed to do something to support a new requirement. Our application, should be available on multiple platforms. • 11. he huge problem with high Tblood pressure—besides the fact that it can lead to heart attack and stroke—is that it is hard to detect without the assistance of technology. According to the American Heart Association, high blood pressure is more often than not a symptomless ailment. For this reason, it is vital that patients regularly get checked, especially those who are known to be at risk. While conveniences are already in place to encourage everyone to regularly check their blood pressure, such as units at pharmacies, a new set of gadgets released under the umbrella- term of Accutension are on a mission to make monitoring blood pressure simpler. And unlike automatic blood pressure monitors (BPM) who have been shown to be subject to variation in readings, Accutension detects blood pressure by listening to the sounds of blood flow, just as doctors in a clinical setting would. The big difference is that this BPM is compatible with your Smartphone. It works like this: the sound of the tube from the stethoscope is fed into the Smartphone through a microphone hooked into the headphone jack. Users then set up and run their BPM as usual, Smartphone: The New Blood Pressure Monitors E Drive but they video record the device's display with their Smartphone. Once the test has been completed, the user can replay the video of the BPM display, while listening to the sounds detected by the Accutension stetho- scope. This allows the user to match up the sounds detected by the Stethoscope with the visual results of his or her BPM. When the user hears the first Korotkoff sound (the sound heard with the help of Stethoscope while measuring the Blood pressure), the number that should appear on the screen is the systolic pressure and upon the sound's disappearance, the number on the screen should reflect the diastolic pressure. (For E.g. if the Blood pressure is 120/80 mm of Hg, Systolic Pressure is 120 and Diastolic pressure is 80) Alternatively, variations of the Accutension allow for more in-depth reporting of blood pressure. The Accutension Classic allows users to test the accuracy of their BPM's algorithm as well as its pressure sensor by utilizing a module that connects to the arm of the BPM. The diagnostics will be displayed on the user's Smartphone via the Accutension App. Another option is to use the Accutension Cuff as a standalone blood pressure kit, which supplies both a visual and audio reading that can be played back on a Smartphone, and saved to show a doctor later. Last but not least, Accutension Doc allows users to conduct their own research with the inclusion of a few helpful extras. The conveniences afforded by healthcare technology are by no means a replacement for knowledgeable medical professionals. To the contrary, at-home tools such as Accutension, and telemedicine technology that allows doctors to assess patients' health remotely, are intended to enhance medical professionals' abilities to monitor our health with greater efficiency. Telemedicine, for example, allows doctors to treat minor ailments of patients in underserved areas who may otherwise have to travel great distances for medical advice that could have been provided over video conference. In the case of Accutension—and countless other Smartphone-based healthcare applications—efficiency is derived in the form of at-home medical technology that is advanced enough to provide accurate information, but also simple enough, and affordable enough, for consumer use. If the current mindset driving innovation in the healthcare technology could be summed up, it would be as follows: convenience cannot, and will not, be a tradeoff for quality. Let's hope it stays this way, and more importantly, let's hope that this mindset permeates other areas of our everyday lives. Courtesy: Priyanka Khedkar PALASH Pulse, Oct 2015 9|
  • 12. Inspiration in a Box ince the great majority of us Salready know what attitude is, we first talk about Comfort Zone. Comfort zone is the mental place surrounded by borders in our mind where we feel secure. Even though this comfort area and its boundaries are just a state of mind that has nothing to do with reality, it plays a huge role in the progress of our development. Since the comfort zone is limited, there is not much benefit for you inside your comfort zone, but what you already are and have. Nothing new will happen until you open yourself and leave your comfort zone. As long as you still are having the same beliefs, you cannot grow and you cannot expect new things in your life. When you change your beliefs you will change your thoughts, feelings and actions and then, and only then you can expand and grow in all aspects of your life. Even though your background may be affecting your present situation, what really matters is not where you were born, your skin color, race, age, gender, religion, government, or even the poor environment in which you have been living for so many years, but what really matters and makes a big difference in your life is your attitude, to understand your comfort zone, how you limit yourself within it, who you are, why you behave the way you do it, and mainly where you are going. Sadly many people don't go anywhere because they stay within their comfort zone. They accept defeat after defeat before even trying or knowing how capable or valuable they really are. These circumstances are not the cause of our actual situation but the conformism and the poverty of our thoughts and therefore the weakness of our broken spirit. Leave your past behind; constantly transcend your comfort zone! Your past within this comfort zone is nothing but a wasted load that you don't need to carry, at all. Take constant action as many times as it is required and never ever quit. As Napoleon Hill said, "a quitter never wins and a winner never quits. Defeat is never a failure; no circumstance ever is failure until it is accepted by the individual as a failure". Whatever you are Attitude Vs Comfort Zone thinking, you are feeling, and therefore what you feel is the way you are acting, and this action is what will determine how far you will go and how your future will be. Cheer up your essence; don't let the background of your comfort zone, or any other external circumstance defeat your spirit. Nothing is impossible for an optimist attitude; everything is possible when we start blindly trusting ourselves, when we have a burning desire to succeed and a blind determination to make our dreams come true; everything is possible when we don't take a no for an answer. Don't be afraid of change, life itself is change, change is growth, and regardless of how painful it may be, change is needed. Change will take you to a place full of new things, blessings and satisfaction, everything is for better. Just focus and only live your present with passion, focus on the things you want and what make you happy. Just believe in yourself, be open minded, open to change, be simple, flexible and take action. This picture of burning scented sticks is taken in January 2015 at Tripura Sundari Temple which is situated in the ancient Udaipur, about 55 km from Agartala, in the state of Tripura. It is believed to be one of the holiest Hindu shrines in this part of the country. All though the shrine draws devotees of all denominations and sects all year round including some foreigners who are fascinated by the tribal heritage of Tripura and adjacent states of the Northeast, the crowds are particularly thick during Diwali, when a major fair turns the place into a tourist attraction. Thousands of devotees' visits their everyday and burn scented sticks and lights candles with hope that god will listen to their prayerand willremoveall theirsins. Burning scented sticks Marine Drive - Sunset The great wall, the queen's necklace or simply Netaji Subhash Chandra Marg, whatever you may call it, Mumbai's Marine Drive is popular amongst the young and the old alike. I recently had an opportunity to spend some time at this windswept promenade located in the heart of Mumbai, flanked by the Arabian Sea on one side and by posh art deco buildings on the other. Initially I was going away from Marine drive and suddenly saw this awesome scene, crossed the road in rush and captured this beautiful moment. I took more than 30 snaps but found this one the BEST. White Throated Kingfisher This snap has been clicked recently at Pashan Lake. The White-throated Kingfisher (Halcyon smyrnensis) also known as the White-breasted Kingfisher or Smyrna Kingfisher, is a tree kingfisher, found through Middle East and most of Asian subcontinent. This species forms a superspecies with the Javan Kingfisher (Halcyon cyanoventris) and most major works recognize four geographic races. They vary clinally in size, the shades of blue on the mantle which is more greenish in smyrnensis and fusca and more blue or purplish in saturatior. This kingfisher is a resident over much of its range, although some populations may make short distance movements. It can often be found well away from water where it feeds on a wide range of prey that includes small reptiles, amphibians, crabs, small rodents and even birds. Their size is about 28 cms, slightly larger than a Bulbuland has a loud call. • 13. Welcome wellness “Pink Ribbon Movement” here was a time, not too many Tyears have passed when I or maybe we tried telling our mother for getting tested for Breast Cancer or even just attend an awareness session. But what happened? Default statements were thrown on our Ear Drums of getting scared 'what if something comes out' and some were of superior category saying 'Hamari Family mein kisi ko nahi hai'. Unaware of the fact that 80% of the diagnosed Breast Cancers are without any family History. We all are well aware that such subjects are not openly discussed; even some may find it embarrassing to read it but why care for something which is a brain block. Why only women, why can't even men read this? Of course they can ,rather they should that too with equal curiosity and equal concern, for a very simple reason, their loved ones are women. It is alarming. Breast cancer cases show a drastic increase in last couple of years, the disease is shifting to younger ladies. Earlier it was common between the age of 50 to 70 years but now it has shifted to the age between 30 to 50 years Increased life expectancy, increased urbanization and adoption of western lifestyles are all responsible for the reduced distance between us and Cancer. It is surprising to know that in India Breast Cancer accounts for 25 to 30 % (Courtesy:WHO) of all the Cancers in women. A survey showed that India has 17% of the world population suffering from Breast Cancer. The motto behind this information is not to create a threatening atmosphere by displaying statistical figures nor is it to discuss the surgeries or the chemo therapies or removal of breasts and so on. It is just to create awareness amongst each and every individual and encourage prevention against the most common Cancer amongst Indian Women and a Global disease – Breast Cancer. The month of October is observed as the World Breast Cancer Awareness month. The Pink Ribbon is an international symbol of Breast Cancer Awareness. Pink is the quintessential female color. It has a calming, quieting effect, has a quality of lessening stress. “We cannot prevent it; we can only detect it early” The color is known to be health-giving. Wearing Pink Ribbon means that one promotes Breast Cancer Awareness and expresses moral support for the women with Breast Cancer. Breast cancer is cancer that develops from breast tissue. Signs of breast cancer may include a lump in the breast, a change in breast shape, dimpling of the skin, fluid coming from the nipple, or a red scaly patch of skin. Distant spread of the disease may lead to bone pain, swollen lymph nodes, shortness of breath, or yellow skin. Risk factors for developing breast cancer include: Being Female , Obesity, Lack of physical exercise, Drinking alcohol, Hormone replacement therapy during menopause, Ionizing radiation, Early age at first menstruation, Having children late or not at all, Older age What least can be done? Breast Self Examination is a basic step to put forth by every single woman. We can easily spare 5 minutes once out of 7 days. What is recommended? Ÿ Clinical Breast Examination by your Gynecologist every 6 months to 1 year after the age of 25 years Ÿ Sonomammography between the age of 30 to 40 every year Ÿ Mammography after the age of 40 every year Do not hesitate to talk to your Gynecologist for any suspicious lump/change in the breast. What least or what is recommended, is it something really difficult to achieve in busiest of our daily schedule? Do we really want to continue to be ignorant under the cover of our busy lives? Everything what has been put on view is pointing to one necessity and that is Breast Cancer screening. We will be able to find loads and loads of information on the subject on websites, newspapers but just reading all that and keeping self updated is not enough. Mind it! Put your best foot forward i.e Care; take care for self because you want to take care of your family. The best protection is early detection PALASH Pulse, Oct 2015 11| Dr. Priyanka Gore

While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage otherstodo thesame. Pink Ribbon Symbolizes Breast Cancer Awareness hence it is also called as a Pink Ribbon Movement or a PinkRibbon Campaign. With people living and working longer, it's increasingly important that we recognise the importance of supporting senior citizens and OAPs within our society. Senior Citizens Day is an opportunity to acknowledge the long-term contribution and dedication of older people, and to ensure that we're doing our best to give something backtoolderpeople. Breast Cancer Awareness Month - October 2015 Whether it's a moral, dietary, health or lifestyle choice, Vegetarian Day embraces and encourages respect for those who turn the back on eating meat. World Sight Day is a special annual day of awareness that is celebrated around the world each year in order to focus on blindness and vision impairment. This day was created by the World Health Organization in collaboration with the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness and awareness is spread through a large number of different events. A large numberof organizations around the world have been involved with World Sight Day for many years. Some people choose to show their support by planting trees, while other people get involved by submitting a photograph that will be used to create an international photograph montage focusing on the theme of blindness. Other activities that take place on this day include special fund raising walks to help cover the costs of operations, book readings for the blind and a number of booklets and posters that are created in ordertoraiseawarenessof theissue.
