This document outlines the objectives and activities for a lesson on ICT systems. In your group read the ‘USAID Famine Early Warning
System Project’ Case Study and discuss the following:
 The implications of not having such a system in place?
 How can other ICT systems help in similar projects
around the world?

Define and find an example of each of the following
types of software:
 Systems Software
 Communications Software
 Application Software
 Utility Software
