    • Then Don’t Eat Them!
      • A vegetarian diet is one that consists of fruits, vegetables, beans, grains, nuts, seeds and more, and excludes all MEAT (red meat, pork, chicken, turkey, etc.)
      • Vegans do not eat meat or any animal products (eggs, dairy, honey, etc.)
      • There are various types of vegetarianism
        • Ex. Pescatarians follow a vegetarian diet but eat fish
    • Common Misconceptions about Eating A Vegetarian Diet
      • You NEED meat to survive
      • You don’t eat enough protein without meat
      • You gain weight
      • You will feel tired and fatigued if you don’t eat meat
      • You can’t get full if you don’t eat meat

      • 72 million animals are killed for food each day in the U.S.
      • On factory farms, large amounts of animals are kept in very small spaces. Animals are stunned before they are slaughtered.
      • Animals are strung up to the ceiling by a chain attached to their legs, and travel along a “bleed rail” where they bleed to death.
      • Most meat contains hormones, pesticides, and carcinogens, or CANCER CAUSING AGENTS such as BHC, DDT, HCB and lindane.

      • Avoid the harmful toxins found in meat

      • Can find protein in healthier foods, like beans, whole grains (such as quinoa, brown rice, and buckwheat), and soy.
