Common Fabrics Used in
Making School Uniforms
It’s better for parents to know at the beginning that uniforms should be bought in threes. It eliminates the need for every
day washing. Moreover, manufacturers utilize synthetic fibres in making school attires. It dries quickly, easier to wash and
resists stains better. Even more, parents can request to blend cotton in making the uniform. It’ll cost a little bit more, but
it’ll make their child feel more comfortable.
Additionally, parents should be concerned about the fabrics used in making their little one’s school uniform. They may
have sensitive skin and could react badly to the wrong material. To help parents decide, here are five of the most used
fabrics in making school clothing.
1. Polyester
This versatile fabric is very durable, easy to wash and can be dyed, making it easy to adapt to
the school colours. Skirts, school jumpers and shirts all have content of polyester in them.
2. Nylon
Nylon is a synthetic fibre first used in 1935. It’s not recommended for children with a history of
skin allergy, as there are chemicals involved in its manufacturing. Nonetheless, nylon still
proves to be a wise option when making uniforms because of its strength and light weight.
3. Dacron
Many parents opt for Dacron because of its high stain resistance. It is also a synthetic fibre, so
parents should be wary about its composition before buying.
4. Cotton
Pure cotton is the ideal fabric to use in making school uniforms. It’s very nice to wear for kids,
but also has its demerits. More than anything, it’s very high maintenance. Also, it shrinks and
more expensive. That’s why it’s better to have it blended with other fabrics to ensure that its
poor qualities are substituted.
5. Wool material to make it more bearable for everyday use.
A child’s comfort must always be prioritized when buying school uniforms. bypass looks and
pick fabrics that will suit the specific needs of younger people.

2. Wool
Wool is rarely used by itself because it can make the wearer itchy. So for school uniform, it is best combined
with polyester or other material to make it more bearable for everyday use.
