  6. 6. Characteristics of R. K. Narayan’s Novels:  Most of the novels take place in Malgudi.  Malgudi is a fictional place created by R. K. Narayan in September, 1930.  This Malgudi is on the bank of the river Sarayu.  So his many novels are conceder as ‘River Novels’.  His some novels have character of Mahatma, sadhu and sanyasi.  So that novels are considering in category of ‘Sanyasi Novels’.  Writing style is very simple and with natural elements of humor about it.  Most of the characters are common people.  Focus on common people and their life.  These novels gives us remembrance of our next door neighbors.
