2. Image Reasoning
My group decided to photograph some of
the ideas from my ‘Red Riding Hood’ Noir-ed.
In my story board I focused more on
the style that film noir has than the
characters as it was more appropriate for
the media that I was presenting the story
in.

3. For Red we had the idea of shooting the picture
under red light in a dark room. It’s just an alternative
way of showing the red aspect of the story. A cloak
would cover up a classic femme fatal figure so it also
keeps the tradition of Noir.

4. This next shot is the granny in the story
taking drugs. The high contrast in this picture
makes it quite distinctive and almost obvious
that it would be in a film noir. If it were to be
in colour it would not look as dramatic.

5. A blurred image of the femme fatal could be
shown in the most dramatic part of the story
as the gun is about to be shot. It would show
panic but still be artistic and crate some
tension.

6. For the shooting a close up of the gun would be shown
but not the bullet hitting the victim. This is known as an
eye line shot.

7. A hat would hit the floor and enter a beam of light that comes
through the gap in the door. This would tell the audience
who has been killed in the conflict.

8. The colours and editing style that we used are influenced by
the film Sin City. It is a modern interpretation of a film noir
so we thought that it would be interesting to test out. The
gun in this picture is similar to the shot of the gun that we
have. As they both are lit brightly.
This shot is from a low angle; this is intended to convey to
the audience the status of the character. It communicates
the experience of the victim. This is very effective. The
character is the protagonist whilst at the same time the anti
hero. This would not happen in the original noir films.
