2. Pre-requisites They might know about the vision of Dr. Abdul Kalam to
dream high. They might know about what dreams all.
The teacher presents a story infornt of the students.
There once lived a girl who was very poor and used to sell flowers nearby the railway station. Even
though she was poor she had a dream of going to school. Her parents couldn’t afford the money for
her education. She saved every single penny for buying books, but still not enough money to join a
school. Years passed by the girl got married, yet not living her dream. Soon she gave birth to a baby
girl. Now being a mother, she wished sending her child to school and so she did. Even though she
saved every penny she got for her dream as a child, she didn’t have enough to live that dream. She
used that money to help her child live her dream. The mother lived her dream through her child’s
eyes.
Dreams...... everybody has dreams. It is we who have to decide which dreams we should follow and
which to let go. So, today we are going to learn the poem Dreams (BB) by Langston Hughes (BB).
The teacher gives a brief description about the author and makes students read the poem.
The teacher asks the students to comment on the poem ‘Dreams’.
