New technologies are changing the way
we work and find information.
74% of American adults use the
Internet and have access to:
 •  14.51 trillion web pages
 •  100,000+ iPhone apps
 •  14,420 radio stations
 •  5,500 magazines
 •  200+ cable TV networks
 •  eXtension!
is a new tool for:

•    Collaboration
•    Delivery of content
•    Enriching communication
•    Interacting with and reaching new users
•    TRANSFORMING the way you work
is Cooperative Extension
In 2008:
3,000 Cooperative Extension faculty and staff
had eXtension IDs.

In 2010:
More than 14,600 hold eXtension IDs.
In 2008:
16 Communities of Practice launched content

In 2010:
42 Communities of Practice launched content

61 Communities of Practice are actively
working and even more are getting ready to
join eXtension
More than 3,800 Cooperative Extension faculty and
staff work in eXtension Communities of Practice
Where adds value:
•  In tight budgetary times, eXtension is enhancing expertise
   for many states.

•  Extension educators are using eXtension to supplement
their work every day. They are collaborating across state and
regional boundaries. They are working differently.

•  Surfacing what is important-- search, context, curation, social

•  Research beyond the Land-Grant-- total university &
   sometimes industry

•  Active engagement/conversation with the public and each
   other

•  Learning (it's social!)
